Calvin reminds us, in his Institutes, that 'knowing God and knowing ourselves' goes together - to do one we must do the other. In Psalm 90 the Psalmist paints a similar picture - we are invited to truly know ourselvesas we know God; in a living, dynamicrelationship.

Abiding in Christ must mean that we understand that Jesus is the only source from which we receive life, that without Him we become spiritually withered and dead, and that He is the only way in which we can bear meaningful fruit that counts for eternity.

The community of the King is called to be a compassionate presence of Jesus upon planet earth. It is to be marked by the power of the Holy Spirit and demonstrated in works of love, kindness, patience and forgiveness as it follows the lead of its loving Lord.
