Jesus shows God’s heart, to redeem the world to Himself. To set things right. Through forgiveness, love, and hope for the future.

The reason for the season is: Our brokenness.  That’s why love came down.  Because Love restores.

Jesus coming is good news for everyone, no matter who you are. The word became flesh and moved into the neighborhood. (John 1) He was born in a garage, to humble parents, with a rough crowd (shepherds) as prominent guests. The way He came, gives us insight as to who he includes (Luke 2:8-20)

Jesus coming reveals who God is in a unique way. In the past God revealed himself to man through His world (Psalm 19:1-6) (burning bush) or His Word (Psalm 19:7-14) (prophets), through Jesus, God is revealed in a totally new way, flesh and blood.

The road to heave is paved with humility. The road to heaven is paved with lame excuses.

The Lord’s Prayer doesn’t just shape us individually – it shapes the universal church.  On this very Sunday, this exact prayer will be prayed word-for-word on all seven continents in countless languages. It will be prayed fervently by Christians all over the world who may not agree on anything else – and yet they pray the very same words to their very same Father – and it shapes us.

As bread is to the body, so forgiveness is to the soul.
