Does God simply want all Christians to rid themselves of all desires, passions and ambition? In this first of a two-part sermon we will look at lust, desire and passion from the negative and see how we can have victory over them. Next week we will look at the same emotions from the positive and see how we can harness them for the sake of the kingdom.

In this sermon in our series, "The Human Experience," we dive deep into the topic of loneliness. Specifically, we look at Hagar, a prominent woman in God's redemptive story who experienced, full well, loneliness and longing but God graciously stepping into it as well.

This week, as we continue on in our series we will be looking at 'The Human Experience' of awe. What is awe? And how does the awe that we are so used to culturally differ from the awe of God? As we unpack the awe of God we will look at what it's meant to do to us and how we can recover it if we have lost it or discover it for the very first time!

As we continue on in our summer series, The Human Experience, we dive into the topic of shame in this message and consider what brings shame, how we attempt to deal with shame and what, ultimately, can rid ourselves of it.

And yet, why don't we experience more than we do, how can we gain it if we lack it and how does our desire for it evidence something beyond ourselves? Those are questions this message addresses.

In Christ each Christian is blessed with a peace and comfort that brings hope into this life and will carry us into the life to come. But the mistake we sometimes make is thinking that because Jesus brings us peace and comfort, he wants us to pursue a life that is always peaceful and completely without risk. In this passage we see the comforting presence of Jesus and the call to follow him out onto the water to take a risk that will force us to exercise our faith.

Pre-resurrection there were few events, if any, that displayed the messiahship of Jesus more than the feeding of the 5000. In this message we highlight four aspects from it that we are NOT to see. Yes, you read that right - in this great event there are four things revealed that we are NOT to see.

In this sermon we will be introduced to Herod the Tetrarch as he comes in contact with the mighty works of Jesus. What Herod does with Jesus is a sobering warning about the attempts we make to create God in our image rather than letting God be God.
