About our Guest:
Lasheyl Stroud is the Lead Juvenile Magistrate in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations and Juvenile Branch. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Kentucky State University, and received her Juris Doctorate degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
From 2003 to 2006, Lasheyl was an Assistant Attorney General in Workers’ Compensation where she began litigating civil cases throughout Ohio. In 2006, she was recruited by Perez & Morris to handle product liability, workers’ compensation, immigration and other civil matters, and later left to accept a Staff Attorney position in the General Division of Franklin County Common Pleas Court where she served for four years. As Staff Attorney, Lasheyl handled civil pretrial conferences, drafted civil and criminal decisions, assisted with managing the docket, and gained inside perspective of a judge’s role in General Division. In 2011, Lasheyl opened a solo practice that handled civil and criminal cases in the General Division and Domestic Relations & Juvenile Branch. She then accepted the appointment to serve as Magistrate and has served there since.
Magistrate Stroud has quickly emerged as a leader in the Court and serves on a pilot specialty docket to address human trafficking within our community, chairs court committees and represents the Court at national conferences to advance juvenile justice. Her committee assignments assist the Court in progressive policy and planning, strategy workgroups and ensuring that the Court is on the forefront in trends. Magistrate Stroud also volunteers with various civic organizations within the community. She is an active member of New Covenant Believer’s Church, volunteers at local schools mentoring youth, and is an adjunct professor at two local community colleges.
Lasheyl is the daughter of a retired Columbus Firefighter, of 33 years. She is a proud breast cancer survivor, and a wife to a school administrator and a mother to two sons. Lasheyl has overcome tremendous obstacles without wavering in her commitment to public service. Magistrate Stroud is a credible, committed, and loyal judicial candidate who undoubtedly will work to administer justice for all.
