So it’s finally here, the long awaited Sue Gray report was published this week and it was great stuff for journalists – with lurid details of excessive drinking, wine splattered up walls and Downing Street staff partying until the early hours during lockdown. But the question Westminster insiders will be asking is what the public make of all this, and how will it effect their party’s prospects in a future election?

To discuss this, I’m joined by pollster extraordinaire James Johnson. As Senior Opinion Research and Strategy Adviser he ran polling for Theresa May, before pivoting to the private sector as a founder of JL partners. He spends his time travelling up and down the country talking to ordinary voters and digging into what they really think about the state of our politics.

We ran the rule over public perceptions of 'partygate', the war in Ukraine and the cost of living crisis in a conversation that may make difficult listening for supporters of the Prime Minister. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
