What is  Individualist versus collectivist when it comes to cultural differences?

It sounds complicated but maybe you’ve been told to be your own warrior,  your personal fighter of freedom, sticking up for yourself against others. Or… maybe you feel compelled to support, nurture and fight for the rights of your people.

These contrasting cultures of Individualist and Collectivist seem aptly relevant when it comes to our rainbow communities (notice the “ies”).
