Arnie and Scott welcome back guest Peter Goelz to the KGVO airwaves. Peter is the former head of the National Transportation Safety Board and a Washington Lobbyist. The group talks about the recent tragic derailment in Joplin, MT of the Amtrak Empire Builder train from Chicago to Seattle last weekend. They talk safety, equipment and infrastructure – and delve into larger issues that are connected including climate change, Washington politics and policy. They also look overseas to countries in Europe and Asia, and how they are far more advanced than the US in infrastructure and transportation systems.

Arnie spent the month of August in New York City and on today’s show, he and Scott talk about his travel in New York, and how much the City has changed since the pandemic. Arnie has great stories about The Concert for NY in Central Park, his beloved NY Yankees and the NY Mets games, The Eagles at Madison Square Garden, mass transit and getting around the City. Arnie also talks about the “best pastrami” sandwich he found in the most unlikely of places and dining with fellow Missoulians Mike Braun and Michelle Huie who visited with Arnie while he was in the Big Apple.

Arnie is in NY for the month of August, and in addition to enjoying his beloved Yankees, taking in music, shows and visiting historic sites across the City – Arnie is making it a mission to eat incredible food. Well – Arnie brings in a special guest to this week’s show – Chef Maria Loi – from Loi Estiatorio. Chef Loi is the official Ambassador of Greek Gastronomy, as appointed by the Chef’s Club of Greece – who also has her own PBS program, is a frequent guest on Ryan and Kelly, and is also an incredible coach of nutrition – offering incredible advice which is featured in her book – The Greek Diet. The author of 36 books, Chef Loi keeps Scott and Arnie on their toes, and talks about running a restaurant during the pandemic, how she and her work family did over the past 20 months helping and feeding the community in NY.

Scott and Arnie are joined by Paul Kingsford, who is working with fellow Jewish Missoulian, Bert Chasin, on educating and talking about the history and contributions made by the Jewish community starting in the 1860s and the gold rush until today. Paul has an impressive background in story-telling to help shed insight on the rich history of Jews in Montana. Paul started his career at England’s famed Saatchi & Saatchi where he was a Creative Director. Tune into the fascinating show and get to meet one of Missoula’s most interesting people.

Scott and Arnie welcome Linlee Nelson on the show this week. Linlee is co-owner of Big Sky Billiard Supply here in Missoula with her husband Lance. Linee talks about their work throughout Missoula and the State, what it’s like operating a small business in Montana during the pandemic, etc. She also talks about the billiard/home gaming industry, as well as the “analog” world of her industry, and how the industry is growing as folks “unplug” and spend more time together. First time guest, Porrino is the former Attorney General for the State of New Jersey from 2016 to 2018 under then Governor Chris Christie and is currently the Chair of the Litigation Department at the prestigious law firm of Lowenstein and Sandler in NJ. Chris is also working on and leading the reformed Newark Police Foundation in Newark, NJ.
