On Jan. 4, 2005, Janelle Hornickel and her boyfriend, Michael Wamsley, both 20, were heading home to their apartment in Omaha, Nebraska, when they got caught in a snowstorm.

Over the course of the evening, the couple made a series of bizarre, frantic phone calls to 911, asking for help in finding their way home.

However, police couldn't pinpoint their location because, at that time, Nebraska didn't have a 9-1-1 GPS system to track cell phones.

On the early morning of March 31, 2017, (17) Heather Bond woke up to go to work. She checked on her children and both of them were still sleeping. As she goes out the door she ran into her husband who was just coming home from a night shift. However, at around 10am-10:30am, Heather received a call from her husband saying that Devin was missing.

Denise Pflum

On March 28, 1986, 18 year old Denise Pflum left to return to the location of a party she attended on March 27, 1986 to look for her purse, but the owner of the property later reported that he never saw Denise that day. She asked her sister and her friends if one of them could go with her, but because none of them could go, she went on her own. She did not bring her identification, or the carrying case or cleaning solution for her contact lenses. Then she vanished.

Esther Lucille Westenbarger

On Nov. 11, 2009, Esther Westenbarger, a 51-year-old Ohio native who had recently moved to Kokomo to be closerto her family. She went out for a night on the town with some new friends.

Police say she went bar-hopping at a few establishments and had a few drinks. She parked her 2005 gold Cadillac CTS at the Hoosier Bar on the north side of town and swung by Miller’s Tavern, about a quarter of a mile away.

At 1:30 a.m., she left Miller’s. Friends thought she might have been headed to her car or the Hoosier Bar.

That was the last anyone saw of her.

On Feb. 3, 2019, a 9-year-old girl ran away on a cold Sunday morning from the Black Hills Children’s Home, a residential youth treatment facility near Rockerville in Pennington County, amid some of the most rugged and remote terrain in the state.

Though witnesses saw her run off, and a search began almost immediately, Serenity has never been seen again.

On Aug 1, 2019, Emmalyn Nguyen was left unattended for 15 minutes after she was given anesthesia during the cosmetic surgery performed by Dr. Geoffrey Kim in August 1, 2019. Emmalyn is now severely brain-damaged, according to her family, who filed a lawsuit against her plastic surgeon and nurse anesthetist Rex Meeker.

Crystal Maria Rogers went missing on July 3, 2015. At the time of her disappearance, the 35-year-old mother of five was living with her boyfriend, Brooks Houck, their two-year-old son, and her other 4 children. Brooks was the last person to see her, stating “she was on her phone playing games” at their home when he went to bed. Reagan Tokes was born on March 13, 1995, to parents Toby Tokes and Lisa McCrary-Tokes. She has a younger sister, Makenzie. She graduated from Anthony Wayne High School where she had a 4.5 GPA and played on the varsity lacrosse and tennis teams. Reagan Tokes, 21, vanished after leaving work at Bodega bar and restaurant, in downtown Columbus, Ohio on the evening of February 8, 2017. Her frantic family members and friends circulated missing posts on social media. Then, a coroner confirmed that a body found shot to death in a nearby park is Reagan.
