Turns out the golden age was the 1950s&60s. What brought about this golden age was a taxation rate of 90% for incomes over $200k. Yes taxing the rich led to job creation, wealth distribution, and the emergence of the middle class. This is never discussed when we talk about the "Good Ol Days."
