On this incredibly animated episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks for his weekly visit to discuss some of the biggest factors that led the Buffalo Bills from being a flailing 6-6 team on the cusp of missing the playoffs to wining the AFC east for a fourth straight season and nailing down the two seed going into the playoffs.
After the Bills blew a late lead and ultimately lost to Philadelphia in overtime headed into their bye, it felt like any realistic championship aspirations were completely out the window. To make matters worse their marquee defensive end was arrested during the bye period and a sports journalist dropped a scathing series on Bills head coach Sean McDermott. Yet this team rallied and completely turned things around.
The guys talk about some of the biggest reasons that led to Buffalo's turnaround, from the embattled head coach seemingly having a shift with in-game management to the team indisputably rallying around him, a defense that rose to elite levels when the games mattered most and the rare quarterback who's talented enough to overcome his many mistakes---the Bills still found a way to win their division and put themselves into great shape as the postseason gets under way.
Patrick and Tone also highlight some of the unsung players who really stepped up at Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday night, give absolutely zero respect to Buffalo's wild card round opponent Pittsburgh Steelers--to the point Tony's already looking forward to playing Kansas City. That and much more.
