Health and nutrition of parents play a significant role in development of the child. Not just physical development even brain development depends upon the nutrition of mother. Renowned Neurosurgeon Dr.Sunil K Pandya says "During pregnancy neurons can grow at a rate of 250,000 a minute. Brain development is the most sensitive part of human brain. At this stage if mother is deprived of essential vitamins and proteins, or is exposed to alcohol or tobacco, the developing nerve cells suffer irreversible damage. Mother needs to be well nourished even before conception. We know pregnancy is big part of our life but seldom do we talk about planning pregnancy. Pregnancy can be planned and should be planned. Both mother and father should be ready for physical, psychological, financial, social changes that pregnancy is to bring in. the changes should be loved. Pregnancy demands care, nutrition, time and rest. A mother should be at her peace to balance and enjoy the needs of pregnancy. No unhealthy man can give out a healthy sperm. Health of father should also be considered. Good health is a combination of physical and mental well-being.
