July 18, 2022 So... You Didn't Close the Deal, You Screwed Up: The Outsiders talk about Summer League, Luka and Dragic
Summer League has finally ended and the Summer Mavs went an impressive 0-5. However, Summer League isn't about wins, it's about finding guys that might be able to contribute during the regular season in some way. Did we find that? We'll let you know.
This week started with two big names within the Mavs fanbase making comments that painted the team in a certain light. First, it was Luka making his first comments that indicate that he may entertain the idea of leaving someday. Big deal or not? He also answered a question about the offseason that indicated that he would like to see the team do more. Or maybe that was just how some interpreted it. We'll break that down.
At the same time, Luka's Slovenian mentor Goran Dragic made a statement about his negotiations with the Mavs. After signing with the Bulls, Dragic told a media outlet that he did talk to the Mavs about a deal but they were essentially offering him a deep bench reserve role where he might play 10 games. He seemed offended by the proposition.
We also found time to talk about movies and tv so this episode has it all.

July 11, 2022 Hardy Har Har: The Outsiders Talk about Jaden Hardy, How YOU Would Have Handled the offseason, and Thor
NBA Free Agency is continuing but you wouldn't know it since the KD situation seems to have frozen all activity. Instead, we have other things to be distracted by, namely Summer League.
Nico Harrison's first draft pick, Jaden Hardy got his first taste of Summer League action and proceeded to score 28 points. AJ Lawson, a South Carolina alum, also had 28 points and Bibs talked about both players' games and expectations for game 2.
Reese also had the great idea to ask the audience for suggestions on how they would have handled free agency better than the Mavs, and we briefly discussed those suggestions.
Finally, we give you the spoiler-free Thor: Love and Thunder review at the end.

July 04, 2022 The Summer of No Expectations: The Outsiders talk about the first weekend of Free Agency
NBA Free Agency is one of the most exciting times of the year unless you're a Dallas Mavericks fan. For at least the past 11 years free agency has not been kind to the Mavericks and this year was set up perfectly for the Mavs to have a rough go at it.
Jalen Brunson being an unrestricted free agent meant that if someone had cap space he could leave without the Mavericks getting anything in return. On top of this, with Luka Doncic's max contract going into effect, the team did not have any money to spend.
Thus far in free agency, the Mavs have acquired one new player, JaVale McGee, and retained two old players, The Mavs re-signed elite cheerleader Theo Pinson and guaranteed the contract of a player who stepped up in the playoffs in Frank Ntilikina.
However, it is the moves that the Mavs didn't make that seem to have the attention of the fanbase. How do the Outsiders feel?

June 29, 2022 Calm the F*ck Down: The Outsiders Address Jalen Brunson's Imminent Departure
We originally decided to do an episode today to talk about what the Dallas Mavericks might do in Free Agency. We had our Outsiders Play GM episodes but those were our personal moves, this was going to be more about what we expect Nico Harrison to do. However, things happen fast around here and the news broke of the Knicks making the final trade to clear up to $30 million in cap space.
With that, reports of the type of deal Brunson will likely receive from the Knicks emerged and reports saying that the Mavs have pretty much accepted that Jalen Brunson is leaving.
Reese and I appear to have a completely different mindset than most Mavs fans when it comes to the idea of Brunson leaving and we decided to do our best to share the knowledge with Mavs fans.

June 26, 2022 Draftermath: The Outsiders Discuss the Mavericks Drafting Jaden Hardy and the Jalen Brunson Saga
Did you miss us? We weren't sure we'd have anything to talk about after the Mavs traded their draft pick but a draft-day trade with the Sacramento Kings changed everything.
The Mavericks traded two future 2nd round picks for pick 37 in the draft and landed Jaden Hardy. Hardy was considered a top 2 prospect from high school a year ago and elected to go to the G-League Ignite instead of college. Much like Jonathan Kuminga the year prior, Hardy struggled with his shot in the G-league and many soured on him. He also had trouble with his decision-making and had many lapses on defense but most assumed he would still be a first-round pick. Once he fell to the second round it appears that the Mavericks saw an opportunity and went for it.
GM Nico Harrison stated that Hardy was 19th on their draft board so getting him at 37 was a no-brainer, but how do the Outsiders feel about him?
Other than Hardy, the Outsiders spent some time talking about the potential for Jalen Brunson to leave the Mavs. How will it impact us? Why would he want to do it? We also addressed the way people are reacting to the idea of a Brunson leaving.
Finally, we got into some TV and Movie talk to close things out.

June 17, 2022 Emergency Pod: The Mavs Acquire Christian Wood
Well, Nico Harrison did not waste any time trying to put his stamp on the team. Several end-of-the-bench players (Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, Marquese Chriss, and Boban Marjanovic were traded for a guy that many Mavs fans previously coveted, Christian Wood. Wood comes to the Mavs after a season where he averaged 17.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1 Block per game while shooting 50/39/62 splits.
For those at home, that would make him second in points, 1st in rebounds, 4th in assists, and tied for 1st in blocks per game among players still on the Dallas Mavericks roster. Of course, those numbers may change a bit, but it speaks to his ability. The 3-point percentage would be 3rd behind Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney Smith.
Wood will come to Dallas looking to be what the Mavs hoped Kristaps Porzingis would be; a versatile big to compliment what Luka Doncic does on offense and the anchor to our defense. We also traded our first-round pick which means we do not have a pick to make this coming Thursday as of today. We will see if that changes.
In this episode, Bibs and Reese give their raw reactions to the trade as well as their reactions to the reactions of both fanbases. They then get into their thoughts about what the Mavs will do next.

This is the biggest issue that the Mavs have to resolve this offseason and there are a lot of opinions being floated on the TL. so it was time to have an in-depth conversation about the situation.
To have this conversation we had a few questions to answer.
Should we re-sign him?
Should we pay him $20+ mil
Can we win with him?
Is he the optimal number 2?
If he leaves, where does this leave the Mavericks?
