Rasheedah Crawly is an Entrepreneur and the Owner of Franklinton Market & Luxe Skincare.

This week is such a fun and insightful episode as I sit and get to know Rasheedah and all that she does and wants to do right here in Columbus, OH. A few months ago I saw news that a "market" was coming to Franklinton, which is the area this podcast's studio currently resides in. While that doesn't sound like a big deal, what it meant was I could go grab drinks and snacks right across the street anytime and didn't have to drive a few miles for it anymore! So, you'll hear me chat with Rasheedah about how wonderful that is, but of course we dive into how the Market came to be out of necessity not just for people in the area, but it all started from Rasheedah herself wishing it existed! Will Deely is a musician, guitarist and singer/songwriter. 

While most often it’s over some Chipotle, this week I sit down with my friend Will Deely. We dive into his music infused back story of finding his passion for playing guitar and eventually singing, that led him through being the trusted “go to” guy for so many bands and artists over the years. We uncover how all this turned into a solo songwriting path, which eventually turned into his project Heavy Things, and eventually turning into now performing as the live guitarist for Beartooth. 

Avoiding the sick sound bytes along the way, we chat about creative burnout, trusting yourself and your skills to just “do the thing”, embracing positive influences around you as motivation to do better, finding your “zen” between the highs and lows of life, what he’s learned via all the projects he’s been a part of over the years, joining a touring band right as the pandemic began, refining his songwriting skills currently and lots more in this fun one. This was my conversation with my multi-talented friend Nate Winkelmes. Nate is an Entrepreneur, Web Developer and musician/producer. 

This episode was a good early example of what I wanted the show to be. We cover Nate’s story of navigating the creative and business world, while holding onto his passion for music along the way. We talk about: Embracing multiple avenues of creative interests, playing the comparison game to everyone else, going from being a freelancer to starting his own agency, that agency eventually failing and how it felt, how he didn’t realize that he actually paid my bills for a year as I worked for his agency, his Dad losing his life to alcoholism and how he’s actively battled with the same issues, rediscovering his passion for music and pursuing that at the time, & a lot more in a very raw and honest conversation that, to this day, I’m still thankful to Nate for opening up with so early on when this show was in its infancy.

Krista Janeczko is a Personal Trainer and CrossFit Coach at CrossFit Gahanna.

This week I sit down with my friend Krista, for a conversation that I will deem simply a “feel good” story. 

As we dive into Krista’s story, you’ll hear her note that she’s “not that interesting” but the more we uncover, the more we find out that everyone’s story matters regardless of how cool we may or may not perceive our journey! In her story, we talk about how growing up a pretty normal life, in ways was almost “too normal” as she never had that special something that she did for herself. We cover that while she identified a lack of hobbies, being sprung into motherhood at a young age of course became her main focus and it wasn’t until a health scare and injury that she found fitness via CrossFit as just the thing she needed. We dig into the importance of self love, making sure we have hobbies and things we not only can identify with, but enjoy, the struggles and power of motherhood, how hard it’s been navigating it all as a single Mom at times, the constant ups and downs of life, finding herself in some very dark mental and emotional moments not feeling she was good enough and what she did to push through, how to really be more present with your emotions in times of difficulty and understanding what to do to get through it, finding herself along the way and how that turned into becoming a CrossFit coach, how much she loves helping others now on their journey, learning how to find the “tools” within you needed to become a better you & so much more good stuff I could list it for days. If you want to feel inspired and simply feel like life will work if you do, go listen!

Jake Floyd is the bassest and one half of the band 'The Orphan The Poet'.

This week I sit down and finally get to know my friend Jake Floyd after years of being internet friends, and having heard the other half of the story of "TOTP" a couple years back here on the show when I had vocalist David Eselgroth on, I finally get his part of the journey! We cover how Jake first fell in love with music after attending his first live show, each of us being from small towns and finding creative paths out of them, lots of music/business talk on how navigating a band is just like running a business in many ways, how he was sure about wanting to play music with his life and going on tour straight out of high school, and how he randomly met David and then joined what would become The Orphan The Poet. We also talk a lot about the value of "learning while you go" by just trying things you want to get better at, how many freelance skills we acquire on our own could and should hold up on any "real job" resume, finding confidence in your creative work, creating a "gimmick" and branding a project and the reasons why it's important, the often draining methods of posting on social media and hoping it keeps it's art-filled purpose when doing so, the stress it can all bring as a musician and how to deal with it, and lots more!
