I am not a fan of Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong, I am not an anti-love guy. I love Lisa, and I even like the creativity of getting things for her to show my love. I am also all about capitalism and marketing – which, let’s be honest, is what Valentine’s Day is all about.
What I struggle with is the guilt laid mostly on men to arbitrarily spend money on their significant other. Sure, a handcrafted gift is admirable, but rarely is it as appreciated as a night out, a store-bought gift, or some other more traditional offering.
