I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife the day before this podcast recording (which helps to explain my mispronouncing of his last name at the beginning of the podcast), and I began to figure out a way to bring him on the podcast while he was still in town. I am so glad that we could make this happen and that we can share his music and musical vision with you all here!
He has many recordings, including bootlegs of live performances from America to Ireland on YouTube and Instagram, in particular!

Beau James Wilding is a solo artist from the south-central coast of California with a wide range of influences, including punk, blues, jazz, and Irish Traditional Music. He has been playing guitar and writing songs since the age of fifteen. Beau’s intense emotional relationship with music was deepened after a disease left him “legally blind” at the age of eighteen on a backpacking trip through Europe. His lyrics are often introspective and explore themes of personal development, the immediacy of our one precious life, and longing for connection relayed through a sometimes strange, sometimes dark, and dreamy landscape of sound. Performances by Beau and his band are high-energy, emotionally-charged experiences that nod to the traditional ballad, express a gritty sense of determination, and the heartfelt rendering of Beau’s unique storytelling through his vigorously raspy and unconventional vocal style.
Beau has recently begun to experiment with drone as a tool in music, inspired in part by the Indian tradition and the bladder-based instrumentation of Western Europe. The continuous hum of electric guitar feedback or the grind of the Shruti Box illustrates a continuum of sound that expands in all directions while staying firmly rooted in one unbroken tone.
An EP is scheduled for release in late May 2024. Beau and his band play regularly in Southern California and will tour Ireland in August of 2024. Hope to see you out there on the road!
Beau has independently released three full-length albums: "Violet of the Pacific" (2014), "The Amor Fati of Crazy Cloud" (2019), and most recently “seeing I god”, released on vinyl, CD, and streaming in April of 2023.

Independent music artist from Carpinteria, California. Gritty folk, folk punk, traditional folk, folk metal, and Irish crossover. Multi-instrumentalist. Guitar, harmonica, bouzouki, bodhran. His most recent album "seeing i god" was released on vinyl and streaming on April 21, 2023. My songwriting is influenced by meditation, self-study, and a search for a deeper connection with self, community, and nature. I am legally blind and grew up with a father with a disability. My wife is totally blind, so the disability experience greatly informs my worldview and songwriting. A yearning for inclusion and for being seen is something I experience and discuss lyrically. I believe that all humans have unique gifts and character attributes to offer the universe. May all beings be well, happy, and given the support to rock the fuck out in their own special way!
