  • 4 - Coach Wooden Pt. 1

Welcome to What’s on Your Bookshelf. In this episode, Denise welcomes a new host, Samantha Powell, to the show to discuss the book Coach Wooden by Pat Williams. The book is based on seven principles given to John Wooden on a card he received from his father, Hugh Wooden, on his eighth-grade graduation. John saved the card and carried it with him in his wallet. The seven principles are:

    1. Be true to yourself
    2. Help others
    3. Make friendship a fine art
    4. Drink deeply from good books, especially the Bible
    5. Make each day your masterpiece
    6. Build a shelter against a rainy day by the life you live
    7. Give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day

Coach Wooden lived these life lessons daily and impacted many lives as a leader and coach. Are you curious to find out what was on the other side of the card? Join Denise and Sam in the first part of this series about Coach Wooden today on What’s on Your Bookshelf.
