Interview with Jack Galante - local winery owner.

In 1969, Jack’s parents purchased a 700-acre cattle ranch in rustic Carmel Valley. While still maintaining a working cattle ranch, the Galantes, in 1983, began growing premium grapes on their property, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon. In 1994, Jack Galante decided to build a winery and use some of his grapes to produce ultra-premium estate bottled wines.

Jack and his wife Dawn have both Galante and Dawn’s Dream – that opened five years ago.

Mr. O’keefe’s Marketing experience includes working in Las Vegas with R&R Partners (they are responsible for the famous Vegas “what happens here, stays here” campaign), he’s worked with gaming companies (such as Bally's and Paris Las Vegas) and has owned his own advertising firm.

Prior to joining the aquarium in 1989, Ken was a writer and editor for 15 years with California newspapers, including the San Jose Mercury News and Monterey County Herald, with a focus on coastal, land use and environmental issues. He currently serves as Senior Communications Strategist for the aquarium.
