What's Your Mount Rushmore?

It's a very rare accomplishment to become a professional athlete in any sport. It's estimated that only 1 in every 15,000+ kids who play organized sports will grow up to become a professional athlete. But to make the odds even longer, imagine how few siblings grow up to BOTH become pros?? It's extremely rare.

To make it an even more mind-blowing accomplishment, some sets of siblings become big stars in their sport, making all-star teams and even the Hall of Fame. Today we're discussing our favorite sports siblings. We cover the past and present, with hall of famers, future hall of famers, all time greats and a few who can be considered the GOAT in their respective sports.

As proud members of Gen X we were basically raised on TV. And throughout our lives there have always been memorable animals popping up on our favorite TV shows. Why not honor these lovable little (or big) creatures with an episode dedicated to our favorite TV Animals!

With a fun topic like this, we knew we needed a fun guest. And Bob St. Pierre was the perfect choice. We got to know Bob well when he was a marketing executive for the St. Paul Saints baseball team, but for more than two decades now he has been the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.

Bob is an avid hunter and he knows dogs about as well as anyone we've ever met. So who better to help us discuss our favorite TV Animals? TV series, cartoons, reality shows, commercials... it's all on the table in this fun, furry episode!

Stage Names are popular across all forms of entertainment. An actor may choose a simpler, easier to remember stage name. A musician may choose something flashy that gets your attention. A comedian may want a name that just sounds funny. All of those examples come into play with our lists this week.

To help us out, we brought in an old friend who himself has used a "stage name" for most of his career. Our old buddy and Twin Cities radio DJ Jon London joins us this week, and he tells the story of how his own stage name came to be in this episode. He also brought his own unique Mount Rushmore of great names to discuss.

It's Oscar Week! We are big fans of the movies and usually have strong opinions on who we think should or should not win Academy Awards each year. Which gave us the idea to discuss the biggest Oscar Snubs of all time. But because we're just a couple of dopes, we knew we had to bring in some serious muscle for this episode.

We were lucky enough to be joined by our old friend Jatin Setia who we worked with years ago. Since then he has gone on to do BIG things, including founding and running the Twin Cities Film Fest which happens every fall and is in its 17th year. They have premiered and showcased Oscar winning movies over the years as well as brought in some big Hollywood names for their events. One of those big names is one of Mark's lifelong crushes!

Grab some popcorn and settle in for a timely episode, as we discuss Oscar Snubs, covering movies, actors and directors who SHOULD have won the gold statue.

We brought our old friend Terry Daniel back to help us this week, listing our top 4 favorite Space Movies. Terry has been with us twice before, making him our very first three-time guest!

He was the perfect guest for this topic. He brought a fun movie that never crossed our minds. And between all of our picks we discuss some of the biggest Hollywood directors, actors and franchises of the last 50 years.

A while back we did an episode about our favorite Sci-Fi Movies, which does include a lot of Space Movies. But this week we focused on movies based in space, regardless of the genre. So if you want to add a Rom-Com Space Movie to your list, go for it!

We are both big fans of the Winter Olympics and watched just about every day of it the last few weeks. Back in 2024 we did an episode about our favorite Summer Olympians and with the Winter games just wrapping up we decided it was a good time to honor our favorite Winter Olympians too!

We recorded this episode right as the Olympics were getting started, so we were not aware of all the excitement that was to come. Or the tough crash that ended Lindsey Vonn's Olympic comeback. All that being said, we chose athletes who have excelled over the last 30+ years and are both very happy with our lists.

Relive the Olympic glory and help us go for the gold one more time this week!

Last week in honor of Valentine's Day we had an episode dedicated to "Love" Songs. But now we're moving on. Things are not as rosy anymore and the ring may not shining so bright. Time to discuss our favorite Break-Up Songs!

There are almost as many songs about break-ups, heartbreak and getting dumped as there are about LOVE. So we had a big list to choose from. We both picked songs from a variety of genres, including some surprises you definitely won't see coming. Sure... we may be discussing some sad songs, but you know us, we still have a lot of fun with it!

With it being the week of Valentine's Day we decided to spread the love and do an episode dedicated to our favorite "Love Songs." ❤️ However, there is a twist... each song we chose HAD to have the word LOVE in the title. And no variations of that word either, so nothing with LOVER or LOVING, etc. Just LOVE.

Since that was the only restriction we put on ourselves, we didn't need to focus only on romantic songs. Some of our picks certainly fell into that category anyway, but some of them are much more about the broad definition of love, and having love for one another. You know... hippie stuff.

So keep that in mind when you share YOUR picks with us. Every song on your list has to have the word "LOVE" in the title!

It's Super Bowl Week! Last year we celebrated the end of the NFL season by listing our all time favorite Super Bowl Commercials. If you have not heard that one, go back and listen. And this year we decided to look at our favorite Halftime Shows.

Our picks range from rock to pop to hip hop, covering artists that dominated the radio waves from the 1970s - 2010s. We only match on one pick this week and it's honestly a pretty obvious one that we hope will be on most lists.

As an added bonus, we also give our predictions for the actual football game as well... you can take it to the bank!

Awhile back we did an episode about our favorite beer and knew we'd eventually get around to doing one for Cocktails. There is definitely variety when it comes to beer, but not nearly as much as there is with cocktails. They can be sweet, savory, spicy, tart or any other flavor you can imagine.

As we talk about in this episode, sometimes you crave certain cocktails at different times of the year. And winter is a time we both generally prefer cocktails to beer. We didn't match on anything this week, so you've got 8 different options coming at ya. Bartender.... Circle the wagons we need another round!
