Jesus and the writers of the New Testament quote the short song which is Psalm 110 more than almost any other passage. It speaks clearly of Jesus as King ruling at the right hand of God and as our eternal priest. And this calls us to respond by offering our lives freely to follow Jesus as our Lord and King.

Our lives can be full of the anxious toil that springs from self-reliance. This beautiful, brief psalm urges us to discover the rest of dependence on the LORD who loves us, and grants us the gift of sleep and of families.

In one of mankind’s most ancient songs Moses reminds us God is eternal, but our earthly lives are very brief. If we grasp this rightly we will learn wisdom and turn to God for love and joy and for significance in our lives’ work.

Jesus predicted that Judas would betray Him and that Peter would deny Him, so what can we learn from these two, and what happens when we let Jesus down.

In his famous act of washing his disciples’ feet Jesus reveals his magnificent humility, and not only sets us a supreme example to follow, but he embodies a profound teaching on how we he alone can free us completely from our sin.

If the evidence for Christianity is so strong, why don’t more people believe? John answers this by pointing to the stubbornness of our proud hearts, and also God’s sovereign choice in to whom he gives spiritual insight.

Jesus enters Jerusalem as a long-awaited King, but not as the King they’d expected. He comes in humility. He comes to die. And he teaches that though the gospel may be free, it is however very costly.

Jesus is at a dinner in Bethany, with Mary, Martha and Lazarus when Mary annoints His feet with perfume.  We look at the reactions and actions of some of the people present.

If God is powerful and he is loving, how can he allow suffering into our lives? Here we get a glimpse of God’s bigger purposes for us as Jesus encounters death, in the lives of his close friends.

At the Feast of Dedication, Jesus again faces the unbelieving Jews.  Again He shows that they need to believe the signs, so they will know and understand that He is God's Son.
