David and Goliath is the classic story of the underdog beating the enemy against all odds, but we see here that it was God who was always in control and Tim helps us look forward to the greater King from Bethlehem, Jesus.

Continuing through 1 Samuel, we see the nation of Israel ask for a king like all the other nations, and the character contrasts between Israel, Samuel and Saul.

Today we see how Israel went into battle with the Philistines, the death of Eli and the holiness of God.

Our series in 1 Samuel continues looking at the failing priesthood, the new order and the lasting solution.

Tim starts our new Spring series in 1 Samuel by looking at Hannah's prayers, seeing her trust in the Lord and His plans for Israel at that time.

Please note the subject matter of this passage: misogyny, abuse and toxic masculinity might be difficult for some people.  Jeremy from Magdalen Road concludes our brief visit to Judges looking at chapter 19 and how, even the the darkness, we can still see Jesus' perfection.

We consider our unity in Christ as described in the letter to the Ephesians.  As our Wheatley Area Churches joint service, Tim opens this passage helping us to see how we should humbly strive for unity, fix our eyes on Jesus, and speak the truth in love.

As we start 2026, Al Horn from St Ebbes in Headington opens the letter to the church in Philippi with the thought of how should we press on towards the goal in this new year.

As a transition towards our next series in 1 Samuel, Tim opens Judges to help us see Israel's need for a king.  We look at the nature and consequences of sin, and God's goodness to sinners.
