  • 53 MPH Wind Gusts Made This Scary

Would you cross a bridge with 40 mph winds… and gusts hitting 53?

I’m at the Royal Gorge Bridge—built back in 1929 and once the highest bridge in the world. It’s over 950 feet above the Arkansas River… and today, the wind is making it feel every bit of that.

Every step feels like the bridge is moving with the wind. you can feel that push the entire way across.

At 40 mph sustained winds, you’re constantly adjusting just to stay steady. Then a gust hits—53 mph—and it’s a reminder that nature is very much in control out here.

What’s crazy is this bridge has been standing for nearly a century, surviving everything from time to massive Colorado weather—and even wildfires that swept through the gorge in 2003.

Without the wind, this would’ve been a peaceful, breathtaking walk, I think. But today it’s pure adrenaline.

  • What do gold miners, racing donkeys, and a Wild West town have in common?

Would you race leading a donkey… or would you rather just watch the race? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to follow along for more unforgettable adventures!”

What do gold miners, racing donkeys, and a Wild West town have in common? Welcome to Donkey Derby Days in Cripple Creek, Colorado!

Every June, the streets of Cripple Creek transform into one of Colorado’s most unique festivals. Back in the gold rush days, burros were the hardworking companions that hauled supplies through these rugged mountains.

Today, that history comes alive as people race alongside donkeys through downtown in a hilarious competition that’s as unpredictable as it is entertaining.

But Donkey Derby Days is more than just races. You’ll find live music, food vendors, family activities, and a chance to step back into the Old West in one of Colorado’s most historic mining towns.

Whether you’re cheering on your favorite donkey or just soaking up the small-town charm, this event is guaranteed to leave you smiling.

  • Climbing the Cave at Palo Duro Canyon

As you cruise down the park road, you are looking at rock walls that are over two hundred and fifty million years old. But if you look up at the right moment...

you’ll spot the opening to the Big Cave. There is no official sign, but a short scramble up the loose red clay connects the road straight to the cavern. It gets slippery, but the view from the top changes everything."

Stepping inside feels like walking into a massive natural amphitheater. The temperature instantly drops, and you get a perfect frame looking back out over the canyon floor. Save this for your next Texas road trip!

    Would you climb up here?

  • Bucket List Moment ✔️ - Swimming with Manatees

    Bucket list moment ✔️

A few of us from our RV park swam with manatees at Hunter Springs Park in Crystal River — 62° air, 72° crystal-clear spring water, and the gentlest giants gliding right past us.

Floating quietly while a manatee swims up to you? Pure magic.

Sometimes the best memories happen when you get a little cold, a little brave, and dive in. 🌊

  • Kayaking with Manatees on the Chassahowitzka River

Paddling the Chassahowitzka River feels like slipping into wild, untouched Florida. We launched in a tandem kayak with friends from our RV park and quickly found ourselves surrounded by quiet beauty—sunlit trees, birds warming their wings, and clear water winding through the springs.

Then came the moment everyone hopes for: manatees. These gentle giants drifted right beneath our kayaks near the Crack, and we even saw mamas nursing their babies. With fish jumping around us and the peaceful flow of the river, it felt like kayaking through a hidden sanctuary.

If you’ve ever wanted to paddle alongside manatees in their natural home, this river delivers pure magic—and reminds you that the best adventures happen when you slow down and let nature set the pace.

We launched from the Chassahowitzka RV Park, $5 parking and $45 Tandem Kayak Rental.

  • The Withlacoochee Trail - Beverly Hills, Florida

What’s better than starting the day with bikes loaded and nowhere to rush to? We set out from Central Ridge District Park in Beverly Hills, Florida, onto the Withlacoochee State Trail headed north with RV neighbors who quickly became friends, riding under perfect blue skies as the miles slipped by with easy conversation.Doesn’t food taste better after a good ride? Lunch at Swampy’s on the Rainbow River, complete with herons, egrets, and even an alligator sighting, made the perfect halfway stop. After laughs and an easy 3½-hour adventure, we headed back and it reminded that the best journeys aren’t just about where you go — they’re about who you meet and the memories you make along the way.

  • What if winter didn't feel like winter at all? Ft. Walton Beach, Florida

What if winter didn’t feel like winter at all?We rolled into Fort Walton Beach, just outside of Destin, Florida, and I was instantly giddy. Would the emerald water really be that beautiful? (Spoiler: yes.) What began as a mid-December stop turned into a full month of sunshine, 70–80° days, and bayside mornings at Destin West RV Resort that never got old. What do you do when the view outside your RV looks like a postcard? You slow down. Foggy mornings, boats drifting by, lazy lunches in Destin, and sunsets that made everyone stop talking. Is there anything better than sipping a Bushwhacker while the sun melts into the Gulf?We met up with friends, chased great food (including a lobster roll I’m still dreaming about), and even wandered as far as Panama City Beach and charming Rosemary Beach. And New Year’s Eve? Pajamas, RV windows, and fireworks—because who says that isn’t perfect?Rainy days came and went, but beauty showed up more often than not. A rainbow after a storm. A stingray gliding through the water just before we left. Isn’t that the kind of goodbye that makes you want to come back?Florida didn’t just give us a destination—it gave us moments. And really, isn’t that why we travel?
