When I Grow Up

On this week’s episode, I got to chat with Dr. Jinny Choe about her job as a pastoral counselor. She shares with me her heart and passion to help bring inner healing to those specifically within the Asian American community, and how her education and background in theology and counseling have given her the tools to help her clients begin this healing process. Dr. Jinny and I also discuss some of our raw thoughts and feelings about last week’s tragic shootings and murders of 8 people (6 of which were Asian women) in Atlanta, Ga.

Have you ever heard about occupational therapy? On this week’s episode I speak with Dr. Bill Wong about his journey towards becoming an OT and what his job entails. Dr. Wong also shares with me about how an unforeseen twist in the middle of his graduate program changed the trajectory of his future in occupational therapy.

I am thankful that Certified Nurse Midwife, Mimi Song, was able to break those misconceptions for me and further explain her job in women’s healthcare. Pastor James Park currently serves as one of the associate pastors at McLean Bible Church alongside lead pastor David Platt. In this episode, Pastor James shares his experience of seminary school, what he misses about serving at a Korean immigrant church, and gives some helpful advice for those thinking about working in pastoral ministry.

I was inspired by Susanna’s courage to step out of her comfort zone to try something new in order to find a career path that she can be passionate about.

I am thankful for my friend and this week’s guest, Jonathan Choi, who was able to give me better insight into a world unfamiliar to many. In this episode, Jonathan explains how his job is to take problems and find practical solutions for their clients. Listen as he shares his story of how he was able to take the things that he loves and enjoys and pair them with a career that he can be passionate about.

2020 was a year to remember, to say the least. And I know it would have looked so much worse if it weren’t for the doctors and nurses on the frontlines of this pandemic. On this week’s episode I talk to Nor.Cal based Pediatric R.N., David Han. He tells me about what things have been like at his hospital since Covid-19, why he became a nurse, and his reasons for wanting to work in pediatrics. He also breaks down his experience of nursing school and maybe some things one can expect in choosing this career. So thankful for friends, like David, who have been selflessly putting themselves in harms way to make sure those that are in pain are comfortable.
