Happy New Year! It has been so fun to get a peek into the lives of so many different people from varied backgrounds. I’m excited to be kicking off 2021 with musical artist Uzuhan, aka James Han. Music is more of my husband’s thing, but I like to think I know good music when I hear it. And Uzuhan’s music is no exception, but y’all probably already know this. Don’t miss this episode, as James takes me back to the genesis of his music career and shares with me some of the challenges he faces as he pursues his passion for making music. Head over to my Instagram @whenigrowup.podcast for your chance at a giveaway this week!
Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks so much for journeying with me these last 30 weeks!! This week David and I chat about what 2020 has been like for us and how this year has affected our family. We also recap what we’ve been learning while producing content for this podcast.
On this week’s episode I spoke with licensed marriage and family therapist, Jinna Chung. Jinna takes us through how she made the decision to study therapy post undergrad and how her career has evolved since having children. What I love about doing this podcast is learning that careers don’t have to be 1 dimensional and there are different avenues one can take with their specific skill set. Listen as she explains her journey towards getting her therapy license and how she is using it today working for an insurance company!
Have you ever wondered how airlines set prices on their tickets? And who decides which planes go where? After chatting with my guest this week, Joojin Kim, I found out there are whole teams of people that analyze data to help determine the value of a seat on any given flight. Upon entering college, Joojin had aspirations of getting into the hotel industry and studied hospitality at Cornell University. However, he quickly found that the hotel industry wasn’t for him. Listen as Joojin shares his journey of how his background and experience opened doors for him to work at one of the leading airlines in the U.S.
If you currently hold interest in the design world, Eny Lee Parker is a name that you are probably familiar with. Although most recognized for her signature piece, The Oo Lamp, Eny’s designs are not limited to just furniture. She is an artist and designer of sorts and this SCAD graduate shares with me how hard work and her willingness to be open minded got her where she is today. Listen as we chat about what inspires her, the challenges of her job, and how our families are personally connected.
Do you have a favorite park that you like to hang out at with your friends and family? Have you ever thought about how the park even came to be? I didn’t even know Landscape Architecture was a thing when I was in high school! I am thankful for my chat with this week’s guest, Julia Kim, who was able to educate me about how a design of a space can really impact one's life. Listen as we talk about what a typical work project looks like for her and what she enjoys about her job. After this interview, I will never look at a park bench the same ever again.
