Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:8-14
When Jesus was born, angels announced peace and good will toward people. The mission of our Lord to this world was to bring PEACE. Peace and harmony are part of God's nature. He created man and woman to share His divine Life and His immeasurable Love. But sin entered the human race. Its evil seed produced violence, unrest, rebellion, fear, hatred and death.
God's peace is a redemptive blessing, paid for on our behalf and in our name when Jesus died on the cross. The Bible says, "The chastisement of our peace was upon him" and he ''Made peace through the blood of his cross" for everyone who believes. Jdg. 6:20-24, Isa. 53:5, Col. 1:20
God has forgiven us so we must forgive ourselves. Christ endured our punishment and freed us from all guilt, in order to give us His peace. We can now declare “Lord, you bore my judgment and made peace by the blood of the cross. My account was settled. I embrace your peace”
