August 30, 2024:  The morning crescent moon passes Pollux in the eastern sky before sunrise – a wide morning Moon-Pollux Conjunction.  The five bright planets are visible during nighttime hours.

August 29, 2024: The morning crescent moon appears with the Gemini Twins before sunrise.  Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn are visible during nighttime hours.

August 28, 2024: Before sunrise, earthshine is visible on the lunar crescent.  It is near Jupiter and Mars.  Saturn and Venus are visible during nighttime hours.

August 27, 2024:  Bright Jupiter, Mars, and the crescent moon gather in the eastern sky before daybreak.  Saturn and Venus are visible during nighttime hours.

August 23, 2024:  Mars approaches the Bull’s horns in the east-southeast before sunrise.  It is to the lower left of bright Jupiter.  Saturn and the gibbous moon are in the southwestern sky.

August 22, 2024: Three bright planets – Jupiter, Mars, Saturn – and the gibbous moon shine brightly before sunrise.  Jupiter is the brightest starlike body in the sky this morning.

August 21, 2024: Before sunrise, Mars marches eastward from Jupiter in the east-southeastern sky.  Saturn is near the moon in the southwest.

August 19-22: A morning moon doubletake occurs. The moon appears in the southeastern evening sky as well toward the southwest during predawn hours.  The moon joins the three bright morning planets.

August 18, 2024:  Mercury is at inferior conjunction today, between Earth and Sun at 8:58 p.m. Central Time. Venus and Saturn are at opposition.  Venus set as Saturn rises, signaling that both planets appear in the sky simultaneously.
