    Summary:

In my senior year of high school, the drama in my life was growing.

I had no clue how to handle it, or better yet make myself happy again.

All I wanted to know was how to find the solution that felt lightyears away.

I first tried to leave myself out of the drama, but someone would always pull me back into the the middle asking my opinion on who is right or wrong.

I then discovered meditation which let me be in control of my mind.

I was able to stop thinking about everything that was happening in my life for once and just sit down and clear my mind. This is my way of sharing with others that if you try mediation, you might just find the solution you are looking for.

I promised to adopt an old woman's dog...I didn't know the little pup would inherit her billion-dollar company, or that I'd have to speak for him at board meetings!

But now that the hot, arrogant CEO has completely insulted me? Best. Job. Ever.

I'm Vicky, the dog whisperer. (Not really, but that's what my elderly neighbor says whenever I walk her dog, Smuckers.)

When she dies, she surprises everybody by leaving a corporation worth billions to Smuckers...and she leaves Smuckers to me.

Suddenly I go from running my Etsy store to sitting in an elegant Wall Street boardroom with Smuckers in my lap. And my neighbor's son, Henry Locke, aka New York's most eligible bachelor, glaring across the table at me.

Rumor has it Henry's a business genius who's as talented in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom.

Sure, he's gorgeous. Sex-in-a-seven-thousand dollar suit.

But... He's arrogant and infuriating. He refuses to listen to me when I insist I didn't con his mother.

He thinks he can bully me, buy me off, control me, even seduce me. Henry may have the women of Manhattan eating out of the palm of his hand, but I'm so over entitled rich guys who think they own the world.

No way will his wicked smile be charming ME out of my panties. His wicked...devastating...impossible-to-resist smile.

Oh well, who needs panties anyway?

  • Naples: The History and Legacy of the Prominent Italian City-State from Antiquity to Today Audiobook by Charles River Editors

    Format: Unabridged

    Length: 01:18:44

    Language: English

    Release date: 08-14-19

    Publisher: Findaway Voices

    Genres: History, Europe, Ancient Civilizations

    Summary:

The history of Naples is long and tortured, or at least for centuries that was how its history has been told.[1] Inhabited almost continuously from the Neolithic era to the present, Naples was founded by the Greeks and conquered by the Romans. After the fall of the Roman Empire, Naples passed between various foreign rulers for its entire history prior to Italian unification. Starting in 1040, when the Norman French invaders conquered Campania, Naples was ruled in a dizzying succession by Germans, then French, then Spanish, then Austrians, then Spanish, then French, and then Spanish.[2]

Although it is in many ways a microcosm of European history with a revolving door of conquerors, historians like to stress the unique status of Naples thanks to these diverse influences and unique geography. Set on a bay that provided a natural harbor, Naples is home to Mount Vesuvius, the only active volcano on the European mainland.[3] When Vesuvius erupts, the Neapolitans pay the price, and it has earned its reputation as the most dangerous volcano in the world. However, the threat posed by Vesuvius is tempered by a great benefit: Naples is blessed with extremely fertile soil.[4]

The natural harbor of Naples and its position on the southwest coast of Italy helps explain its history of multiple rulers, insofar as it made Naples a central locus of trade between Italy, Greece, Byzantium, North Africa, Spain, Holland, Flanders, and Germany. Due to its strategic importance, Naples reached high levels of prosperity, and for the same reason, it also suffered as various foreign powers vied for control of the city and the surrounding area.[5]

Author: Charles River Editors , Gustavo Vazquez-Lozano

    Narrator: Colin Fluxman

    Format: Unabridged

    Language: English

    Release date: 08-13-19

    Publisher: Findaway Voices

Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Biography & Memoir, Christianity, Religious & Inspirational

    Summary:

He appears once in the New Testament, mentioned only in passing in the Acts of the Apostles; only a few verses in the canon, but for the primitive Church, there is a whole corpus about Simon Magus, its most formidable antagonist, an enemy of such colossal proportions that he deserved to be called 'the father of all heresies.' His only mention in the Bible occurs at the beginning of the second volume of Luke the Evangelist where he had a minor confrontation with Saint Peter which nonetheless had a happy ending. Simon recants and asks Peter to pray for him. Nothing else about the miracle maker of Samaria who called himself A Great Power could penetrate the authorized scriptures. But unlike many other characters who, once the canon was closed, vanished forever, never to be mentioned again by the ancient sources - Pilate being the archetypical example - , Simon Magus survived in the treatises against heresies and popular legend to become the greatest apostate of all times, evil personified, a sorcerer responsible for the greatest corruption in the Church, a kind of demon with powers so spectacular that, according to the apocryphal Passion of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the joint prayer of the two pillars of Christianity was required in order to defeat him because Simon was surrounded by demons. It was without a doubt the most spectacular exorcism of all time.

That there was a charismatic leader named Simon in Samaria, who was credited with miraculous deeds - contemptuously called 'magic' by his Christian opponents - and that he still had followers as late as the 3rd century, seems a sure fact. Other than that, few certainties can be known. However, in the tales of his spectacular confrontations against Peter, Jesuss main disciple, in the angry refutation of his teachings by the heresiologists, in the insistence of the sources that he was known as a man of power.
