Dr. Tim Naimi is the Director of the Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research at the University of Victoria, professor at UVic’s School of Public Health and Social Policy, and an alcohol epidemiologist.
He is one of three scientists at UVic’s Canadian Institute for Substance Use Research who were part of an expert committee that crafted the proposed new guidelines warning of the risks associated with more than two alcoholic drinks per week.
He is currently supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Centres for Disease Control in the United States for his research on binge drinking and youth drinking, among other areas.
Dr. Naimi is a father of two teenage daughters and is based in Victoria.
