I purchased the book for a young friend who is going through brain cancer. I read it first as I didn't want it to upset her.. I thought Toni conveyed her journey through this period in her life very well. It was not a depressing book but rather inspiring. Wonderful guide to living life when adversity hits you in the gut.

This is the gut wrenching story of how Toni accepted the hand she was dealt while making her own personal decision to not let it get her down. It's a fascinating story of how to live life in the present. There never was any doubt as to how this story ended. So very upbeat.

Heart warming true story and fast read

Heart warming story and a fast read. First chapter begins a little bumpy in it's flow, but her story unfolds smoothly after that. Enjoyed very much!

Highly recommend

What a journey. It won't take long to read the book, but the effect it will

have on you will last for a long time. Reading it was both a sobering and

enlightening experience. I'm a cancer survivor, but it was an easily

treated/cured cancer. I've never experienced the terrifying ups & downs

that she went through. But I've had friends (as I'm guessing, all of us have)

battle serious cancers, some successfully, some not. I think all of them

would have found hope and comfort reading this book. I've even gone back

through looking for mention of some of her coping mechanisms to research

on my own, hoping they might help me with some of the ailments in my life.

I think everyone who reads this book will be thinking about what they

would have done faced with a terrifying diagnosis. The term "hero" is

thrown around far too often today to describe people in no way heroic, but

Toni is a hero to me.

You don't have to have cancer to benefit from reading this. At the most it

may put some of your life in perspective; at the least it will comfort you. It

may even inspire you.

In seemingly no time at all, Kevin had me down on the small patch of tile floor at the doorway. There he began to strangle me.

Go along for a great ride....

This beautifully-written little book is a behind-the-scenes peek of the life of one Uber driver, Steven Roy Grimsley, who may or may not be typical of the breed. But his vignettes provide insight into the lives and times of folks who are willing to entrust their traveling safety to a stranger whose driving qualifications are mostly taken on faith. Steven lets his characters reveal themselves, sometimes through his gentle prodding, weaving together stories that are thoughtful, contemplative, wild, outrageous and just plain fun.

The book made me think about researching becoming an Uber driver, but in the end I decided it would be a lot more rewarding to just spend random evenings sitting in the back of Steven's car and going along for the ride.

Her motto is: the world would be a better place if we would show more love toward one another. Life may not be fair just continue to work at it, you can get the outcome you want! Magdaline's life was not always peaches and cream. She also experience some days of lemons and limes. In those times, she often prayed for wisdom and strength. Her faith is strong in God through Christ. Philippians 4:13 says: I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me!

What's it like to be a... boy

What an amazing piece: this is applied psychology, describing the world through the eyes of a ten year old, seemingly withholding judgment. If it were not for that mysterious paragraph about the boy being a small version of the man, a thought that gives this piece a sense of dread, or horror even: this is how American manchildren get manufactured by a media barrage. I am sure this hypothesis of a personality being cast like an insect in amber at age ten merits some qualification ( I recommend the superbly written long form study "Triumphs of Experience" that makes the opposite argument: it is never too late to change your life, even as a septuagenarian). So, even though I am doubtful about the latent passive aggression lurking in this piece, I still loved reading it; it gave me a sense of engrossed engagement like reading a novel: being blissfully abducted into the twin minds of a boy and an amazing writer.

As the Mother of 3 Boys, I Thought it Was Perfect

Well worth reading, especially if you've wondered what goes on in their heads. I definitely have. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

I could not put this book down!

I read the entire book in 2 days. The story is very compelling. I kept wanting know what happened next with each page. It's so sad how SOME doctors use people as experiments instead of doing what they truly believe is the right course of treatment. Good for this mom who stood up for her child(ren) and did everything she could to make sure the proper care was given. Very inspirational story for any mother who's challenging authority figures on behalf of their child(ren)! Get this book!

I was excited to hear this. It didn't disappoint. interesting, touching and raw. I felt for him and could relate to a lot of what was said. Having had a negative beginning I've grown to a positive existence. enjoyed this thank you Allan Jenkins.

Excellent book for the right audience

This is a really good book,but feel you need to be in the right mindspace to enjoy it.

Tedious

A well written but tedious account of a troubled childhood against the backdrop of a year in the life of an allotment. The author's love of plants shines through and this is inspiring but totally overdone. One is always kept waiting for the next snippet of the childhood story line. I persevered until the end and came away feeling I had wasted my money.
