What a eed blooded man will do for a woman! !
I have voluntarily submitted this review after reading an advanced copy of this book.
A Viking warrior has agreed to travel to Ireland, where he was to marry and settle on land provided, in exchange for his alliance with the Laird. However, things change and he has a gigantic task to fulfill, within a fortnight, or he could loose everything.
Interesting story, but be warned, it is a cliffhanger leading to the next book.
Meek and mild or fiery and wild?
Bram, a Viking, has left his homeland hoping to make a new life for himself and to form a new family in Ireland. Unfortunately, Ireland has suffered through many invasions and pillaging by Vikind hordes.
Now he's in Ireland, where he is to marry the daughter of the Laird and receive land for his new family, in exchange for his loyalty and protection of the Laird and his lands.
However, before he can marry the daughter that he's been contracted to marry, he meets her fiery-haired and fiery-tempered sister. He can't marry Rebecca now that he's been electrified by Kaireen. Now he has to convince her father, the Laird, to change the contract terms. He also has to convince Kaireen that she belongs to him. That will be the greater challenge
    Stranger things have happened
When love leads you in a different direction; what do you do? Love drives a person but how do you get someone to notice you? I have to go find the next book in this series now. I hope to see you there.
Andrea R Cooper (Viking Flame: Prequel to Viking Fire)
This was a great Prequel to Viking Fire which if anything to go by is going to be a exciting novel . The start was just a taste of the enjoyment to come .
    For All Viking Lovers
Viking Flame is a fast, amazing read that will leave you wanting more of Bram. Bram arrives in a new land to marry a nobleman's daughter, but he finds himself attracted to another, and she's a very fiery girl indeed. I won't give too much away, but this short novella is the perfect tease before diving into Viking Fire. Highly recommend this to all historical romance lovers, especially those who can't stay away from sexy Vikings.

    Title: Freya
    Author: Anthony Quinn
    Narrator: Kim Hicks
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 17 hrs and 47 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 03-15-16
    Publisher: Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd

    Genres: Fiction, Historical
    Publisher's Summary:
Once again Anthony Quinn shows himself a master at writing fiction that works on every level.
London, May 1945. Freya Wyley, 20, meets Nancy Holdaway, 18, amid the wild celebrations of VE Day, the prelude to a devoted and competitive friendship that will endure on and off for the next two decades. Freya, wilful, ambitious, outspoken, pursues a career in newspapers, which the chauvinism of Fleet Street and her own impatience conspire to thwart, while Nancy, gentler, less self-confident, struggles to get her first novel published.
Both friends become entangled at university with Robert Cosway, a charismatic young man whose own ambition will have a momentous bearing on their lives. Flitting from war-haunted Oxford to the bright new shallows of the 1960s, Freya plots the unpredictable course of a woman's life and loves against a backdrop of Soho pornographers, theatrical peacocks, willowy models, priapic painters, homophobic blackmailers, and political careerists.
Beneath the relentless thrum of changing times and a city being reshaped, we glimpse the eternal: the battles fought by women in pursuit of independence, the intimate mysteries of the human heart, and the search for love. Stretching from the Nuremberg war trials to the advent of the TV celebrity, from innocence abroad to bitter experience at home, Freya presents the portrait of an extraordinary woman taking arms against a sea of political and personal tumult.

    Wonderful story, marvellous performance!
I would highly recommend this beautifully woven story. Quinn creates such beautiful characters I wish we had time to get to know all of them.
    Loved this book!
Heard about this via Simon Mayo's book club, not always reliable for my tastes and did think it might be chick-lit-y (despite a male author). The characters, though, are beautifully drawn, particularly that of Freya herself, wonderfully self-confident though flawed, and those who surround and pass through her life. I cared about Freya, her ambitions and life and shed a tear at the (happy) end.
    Stunning
Characters and story so fascinating that I dreaded the end of the audiobook. Wonderful evocation of London in the 50's and 60's, very well narrated. This was my first Anthony Quinn, will download the rest of his work.

    Terrible reading but great stories.
Out of all the audiobooks I have listened to over the years this is the worst reading. Perhaps better stated as a emotionless narration. The stories are very good but the reading will cause the listener to lose focus and miss key points. I want a refund.
    Captivating!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Bully & Other Stories to be better than the print version?
Yes, by far! The narrator infused the excitement the stories portray.
What did you like best about this story?
Out of the seven stories, I loved the signature story, The Bully. Something about Sam Young reminded me of Holden in The Catcher and the Rye.
What does Randall R. Rocke bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?
The intensity of the moment. Like when they kept towing the C-5 in Antarctica so it would not sink.
Who was the most memorable character of The Bully & Other Stories and why?
Definitely Sam Young! The scene in Wind and Rain when the airman's head is cut off by a rotor blade, and Sam retrieves the head was touching.
    Any additional comments?
One of the best story collections I ever listened to!

    Blow my mind
    Any additional comments?
This was a very interesting listen for many reasons. One being who was Jack the Ripper, many have come to their own conclusion as has this author. After listening to this I was unsure if this was fact or fiction. I did my own research into James Maybrick and have found this story is fact as to what some people believed where others say it is untrue. I thought this author did a wonderful job of writing this amazing side to what could very well be true. If this is true it would explain a lot of things that have been left unexplained for many years. I will let you be the judge and decided for yourself. This is defiantly one story you do not want to miss either in the book or in audio. I have to say I enjoyed the audio and it added so much to the story.
Mr. Sturdevant did an outstanding job with this audio from his wonderful accents which make this a more believable listen to his wonderful character voices. I have listened to other samples of this narrators work you really have to listen to compare just what a wonderful narrator this man is, I would never have thought they were the same person. Mr. Sturdevant has a very clear and pleasant voice that is easy to listen to. His character voices are clean, clear and crisp. His tones are even you never have trouble understanding who is talking or what they are feeling. His male voices are as pleasant as his female ones. There are no background noises I do believe there was one place where he repeated a few words but in no way does it take away from the audio it is noticeable. It would be my guess this was when he took a break however if any other breaks were taken you could not tell. There is no doubt Mr. Sturdevant took time in planning how to work this audio. He really adds a lot to the story giving a very vivid picture of what the author has written. At times I felt like I was in the room watching the acts James was doing. I have no trouble believing this was anything but a nonfiction story with the way he gave the audio a life of its own. I am looking forward to listening to more of this narrators work.
True Crime and Serial Killers are my true reading passion. I was totally into this story even though after my research some say this is all made up. I have no trouble believing this could be very well true and James could be Jack the Ripper. Whether or not the story of the diary of James and his so called writing inside a watch is true this is one author that will show you a side of James few have seen or even know about. This is well worth the listen I totally enjoyed the narrator and the author side of James aka Jack the Ripper. I will let you decide if you are a believer or not. This is one audio you do not want to miss. As you will see this author that did his research giving you a compelling story why giving life to a story that pulls you in and never lets you go.

    Genres: Fiction, Historical
    Publisher's Summary:
Once upon a time, Margaret Mitchell wrote a book...and the rest was historic.
Irving Thalberg once said, "No Civil War picture ever made a nickel." Producer David O. Selznick was determined to prove that assumption wrong, even if it killed him, his stars, and all three of his directors; even if it cost him his independent movie studio and destroyed every relationship he'd ever had. This is a story of old Hollywood and of a world that no longer exists. Gone with the Wind broke new ground in every avenue of Hollywood's old empire. It made an international star out of Vivien Leigh, won an unprecedented 10 Academy Awards, and in 1939 was the most expensive motion picture ever made. But it was one crisis after another from the time the motion picture rights were purchased in 1936, until shooting began in 1938. The story of how this film ever got made is almost as epic as the movie itself.
Upon completion of Gone with the Wind, Selznick was sure that he had hit the jackpot. But he also knew that every film he made from that time on would be judged on the merit of what the worldwide audience called Selznick's Folly. This is a fictional account on the making of the greatest motion picture ever made!

    Great Work
This book provides a very accurate and entertaining version of what happened during the making of Gone with the Wind. While reading this book, you can tell that the topic has been thoroughly researched by the author. The book is an easy and fun read, and even though I knew what was eventually going to happen, I didn't want to stop reading. It's very enjoyable for people of all ages who are interested in the topic. The personalities of all of the actors, directors, filmmakers are right on the spot. Apart from a few typos, this book is great.

    Publisher's Summary:
Shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award 2016.
The Words in my Hand is the reimagined true story of Helena, a 17th-century Dutch maid desperate to educate herself and use her mind in an era when women were kept firmly in their place.
Helena works in the Amsterdam lodging house of an English bookseller who rents out a room to the mysterious 'Monsieur', who turns out to be René Descartes. Always trying to keep one step ahead of the authorities desperate to suppress his free thinking, Descartes and Helena form an unlikely bond which turns from teaching into an affair.
For all his learning, it's Helena who provides him with insights and emotional perspective from the everyday life all around him. For this is Helena's story, a woman who yearned for knowledge, who wanted to write so badly - and who could afford nothing - she made her own ink from beetroot and used her body for paper.
Weaving together the story of Descartes' quest for reason with Helena's struggle for literacy, the novel follows Helena's journey across the Dutch Republic as she tries to keep their young daughter secret. Through Helena's story, everyday objects are transformed into new ways of learning. Their worlds overlap yet remain sharply divided; the only way of being together is living unseen. Helena and Descartes face a terrible tragedy and ultimately have to decide if their love is possible at all.

Stop and gp narration is monotonous voice
I had a hard time understandimg the plot- there were connections and logic that only a narrator explained but could not be gleaned from the story. Also, the narration is monotonous- frankly the worst I had so far in audible...the "cover" promised much more than the book delivered
