A truly good starter to understand some valuable lessons before starting a business

As the title suggests of this book, we have 100 people who share their stories, tips and lessons regarding how to manage a business or to start a new one. Lots of things to be learned here because all these lessons are coming from different people with their different experiences and different types of businesses.

It is difficult to mention the main points here because there are many important subjects and each author has his own ways in explaining what things worked for him/her, but I am going to mention few of the tips/points of discussions I think they are very crucial that were mentioned. For example, Being clear about the purpose of the business, understanding the difference between working in your business and working on your business. How the first step being the most difficult one in anything including starting a business. The importance of owning a business and not being owned by a business, discovering self worth and understanding the value of time. And one of the lesson points I found very interesting is that just because you can start a particular business it does not mean you should do that business, the whole idea is that you need to like what you are doing and have passion in doing it. Online business and its advantages and disadvantages.

The book is really filled with tons of useful lessons coming from people who experienced the whole thing. I think this is a must read to anyone who is having a goal of starting his own business. Yes, the stories are a bit short but at least they give you an idea what you need to keep in mind and when you feel the importance of a lesson you can dig more into the subject of interest and do your own research. I think the author has done a tremendous job in collecting all these different experiences into one single book which makes it really easy for the reader to decided where he wants to start from.

Quite basic stuff

As the book title says, this is for beginners. Simply goes through some basic concepts such as mean, median, variance etc. and most of the time is spent on explaining how to calculate these and draw charts.

Data analytics can be used in most jobs that I am going to be able to be hired into. In this book I have learn the basics of data analytics and some of its tips. This book discusses everything I needed to know when it comes to analyzing data, transforming, inspecting, cleaning and even creating models out of that data.

Embrace the Chaos!

I am an undergraduate adviser at a four-year university and was immediately drawn in by the title of this book since I work with students who are majoring in design and arts and often feel uncertain about where their path will lead after graduation. I received my Master's in Career Counseling and in my graduate program, the happenstance learning theory by John Krumboltz was heavily emphasized, and it was so refreshing to have Katharine Brooks take elements of this theory and create an engaging, illuminating, and empowering book that both counselors can use with their clients/students as well as being used as a stand-alone resource by people who may not have easy access to career counseling. Even though this book is geared more towards college students, I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to be encouraged and uplifted in their career journey. A must read in any career-counselor's toolkit!

don't let the easy accessibility fool you

"you majored in what?" provides a fresh, detailed approach to career research. about 22 years ago, i needed a career change. i attended counseling classes, and also went through the then-current volume of bolles' ubiquitous "what color is your parachute;" although i was successful in my effort, i wish this book and approach had been available then (yes, even though this book is aimed at graduating college students, i think career-changers could benefit equally from its content). the WCIYP approach is terrific as far as it goes, but it is not as straightforward and freeing-from-stereotypes as would have been helpful to me. "you majored in what?" is an open-ended brainstorming of a sort, with a framework laid out to really allow me to link experience,strengths and interests. the author uses the term "wandering map" to describe the basic tool upon which the "search" is built.

I downloaded the audible edition then after listening I downloaded the book in order to review a few techniques. I have to negotiate with people almost on a daily basis so I found this book helpful and this is not my first book on the subject.

you'll learn a great deal of ethical negotiating from this book as well as effective strategies in negotiating. This is a very effective guide! I tried following the tips shared here and it was on point! The negotiation turned well and was in-favor of me all because I know how to manage it. Glad I tried reading this guide. Kudos to Russell Davis and his team :)
