Whiskey and Chocolate with Jude McLean

I sat down with award-winning author extraordinaire, Karina Kantas. She not only writes edgy books but helps other authors with marketing and everything that goes with it. And I mean EVERYTHING! And in her spare time, she is a very proud mother. She's a lovely person and I'm proud to call her my friend.

The O’Brian Trilogy, book one introduces Connor O’Brian, a hard-working Irishman who wants nothing to do with women and romance. He was burned once, and that was enough. Isolation. Quarantine. Ever wonder what happens behind those closed doors?

I was stuck at home feeling caged and homicidal. I hadn't worked a regular job in over a
decade, but I had to do something to keep myself out of prison. So, I signed up to be a COVID-19 Contact Tracer to do my bit to help us through the pandemic. How hard could making a few phone calls be, right? I was in for a rude surprise. I became the eternal bearer of bad news and mankind's punching bag. I thought I'd heard it all. I was wrong. It's incredible what strangers will say over the phone. Some people made me want to pull my hair out, or worse … Some unsuspecting victims made me laugh until the tears rolled down my face. Then there were the calls that touched me to my very core. These are the conversations I'll never forget.

*There are a few stories that are only available with the purchased audiobook.*

This “Charlie Brown” article marked the beginning of my accidental author career one year ago. The story goes like this: As you may know, I was a COVID-19 Contact Tracer. All work was done from home, so while I had coworkers, it wasn’t like we were gathering around the water cooler to share a laugh. But, my team had a chat room. One particularly lousy day, I told a funny story to lift everyone’s mood. It worked, so I made a habit of it. I do loads of stupid things, so why not share?
