The bourbon for this week is off to the races. First Call Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was the Taste of the Month for Total Wine. This is a nice sipper at a great price. It is nice on the nose and the palette and only lacks a little on the finish. Following our review, we discuss a little darker topic, serial killers. Welcome back y'all. This week we follow up our last special with a full review of Broken Barrel California Oak Bourbon. If you did not listen to our special with Broken Barrel, you should go back and listen to that first. This bourbon is a great bourbon for those just getting into bourbon, for those that enjoy wine, and very enjoyable for your more established bourbon drinker. It has a nice wine tone to it as well as a lot of flavor. The high rye mash bill pulls through nicely as well. This week we have a big treat for you all. We had the privilege of meeting with Broken Barrel CEO Seth Benhaim who gave us some great insight into their company, the industry, and whiskey. This episode will not be like others as we were able to try their bourbon/rye flight and give a breakdown of each one. The whiskeys we tasted were the California Oak Bourbon, Bourbon, Barrel Strength, and Heresy Rye. Elijah Craig Small Batch, a good bourbon that is as good on the pallet as it is on the wallet. It has nice spice and is very well balanced overall. We bring in 2 special guests, Victor and Charles, and a special guest bourbon as well, Elijah Craig's big brother, Barrel Strength. Following our review we discuss...... we wish we knew what our plan was but the only things that really relate to all of the things we discussed are rabbit holes and giving Devo a hard time. For this episode, we are reviewing and rating Early Times Bottled in Bond, which is the first bottle we have reviewed that is only available in 1L bottles. It is a nice sipper, especially at the price point. There is some spice, some sweetness, and some heat that comes through in the slightly higher proof bourbon.
