Two things happen this time of year on Whiskey Business. The Buckeyes start another season and to insure a winning one, Bill Demora (now Senator Demora) returns to his superstitious ways and returns to Whiskey Business. But this one is packed with more than just Buckeye Football. We caught Bill just after the Democratic Convention as well, and a lot of behind the scenes stories were revealed: the Biden Love, Back to Back Obama’s, The Beyoncé Bee Hive, and how much you could’ve scalped your ticket for on the last night of the convention. And yes, we did talk Buckeye Football before Billy lost his senatorial patience. So all will be well in Buckeye Nation as it is in this weeks episode of Whiskey Business. Go Bucks! Go Billy!

Ahead of the first of Columbus Comedy Festival, we enjoy a respectable visit with comedian Nickey Winkelman. The conversation went from comedy to real life and the REAL life that’s in comedy. Asking, what's the art of finding ways to present life situations to a comedy crowd that may also be going through them but in a relatable, funny way? We also talked about the juggling of being a mom, doing comedy and holding down a regular job where she claims the title of “Respectable Co-worker.” Enjoy the ALWAYS respectable and ALWAYS funny, Nickey Winkelman on this latest edition of Whiskey Business

Pelotonia is a two-day bicycle ride in the Columbus, Ohio area, to raise funds for cancer research. Our guest, Preston Stapleton is riding in it.
Preston is not a cyclist by nature, but this will be his third time, putting 50 miles on the pavement and hopefully reaching his own personal fundraising goal. To sweeten the pot, he’s raffling off some very nice bottles of bourbon as well. We wish him good luck, safe cycling and hope you enjoy this latest installment of Whiskey Business.

In 2021 80% of suicides in Ohio were men.
Enter MAN THERAPY, started in Colorado and adopted by Ohio in February of 2024, MAN THERAPY is a kind and yes-humorous way to approach men about therapy and feelings they never talk about because of stigmas, fears and opinions of others.
Tony Coder joined Whiskey Business for a frank and again- funny podcast about men and therapy.
MAN THERAPY with their faux psychiatrist, Dr. Rich Mahogany, helps men realize that’s “it’s ok to not be ok” and offers options on how to move forward.
It’s not clinical. It’s not medical. But it’s definitely helpful and a great tool for getting on path to better mental health. Listen to some frank and honest discussions, revelations and maybe even take the “head test” to see where you may be or where you can direct the man in your life you care about. And then you can buy him a beer.

In September of 2022, filmmaker Peter Jon Ross joined us to talk about his documentary SOCIAL MEDIA MONSTER, a film about an internet troll who he’s battled for more than a decade. It was our most listened to and watched podcast on Whiskey Business. The documentary is now out and available to stream. Ross returned to Whiskey Business to update us on the film, the battle and other amazing things that have transpired since his last visit. The story was fascinating and compelling two years ago and still is in 2024. If you’ve ever been trolled, it’s almost required listening. If you haven’t…count your blessings and listen nonetheless.

Whiskey Business came back from hiatus right around the same time the largest local independent film ever made in Columbus, DOWN TO THE FELT wrapped on principal photography. Coincidence? No. Our host for Whiskey Business was one of the writers and producers of the film and he along with Director/Writer/Producer Jon Osbeck and Writer/Producer Ralph Scott, sat on the guest side of the table as John Whitney, Greg Hansberry and Chip Kocel asked all the burning movie questions. The Down To The Felt story is a journey into independent filmmaking and still has the post production process to go through. But it IS a testament to what can be done in Columbus, Ohio with the right talents, the right crew and yeah…a little bit of luck and serendipity. Go “all in” and enjoy this return to Whiskey Business.

The tables are still turned on this installment of Whiskey Business as our host, Dino Tripodis, was the guest. The topic was a True Crime case he was instrumental in solving. A case of MURDER!
No, he didn’t commit it, but he was an integral part in the pursuit of the people who did.
The Just Sweats Case was an insurance fraud for murder case that started in 1988 and ended in 1992 with John Hawkins, the alleged mastermind behind the whole plot being the last one apprehended and tried and convicted for conspiracy to commit murder.
Attorney, Bill Mattes, is back to navigate it all, digging deep into the case.

The Just Sweats Case was an insurance fraud for murder case that started in 1988 and ended in 1992 with John Hawkins, the alleged mastermind behind the whole plot being the last one apprehended and tried and convicted for conspiracy to commit murder. His partners, Melvin Hanson and Richard Boggs were apprehended and convicted FOR the murder of Ellis Greene prior to Hawkin’s capture.
And…they almost got away with it.
Interviewed by attorney, Bill Mattes, who left no stone unturned and in turn brought out ghosts that Dino had not confronted in decades, you need to listen or watch and find out the part our host played in initiating the hunt and the subsequent lessons learned that stick with him more than 35 years later. And keep your bottle close. You’re gonna need it.
