Amid serious pressure from Democratic leaders, the White House granted temporary work permits for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans who are already in the country. After pressuring President Joe Biden for months, Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams praised the move. After that, a tragic event occurred when a 1-year-old child died in a Bronx day care center after being exposed to fentanyl. Three other children were also hospitalized after exposure. Both the operator of the center and a relative are facing federal drug charges.
