Dr. Jack Levison, W. J. A. Power Professor of Old Testament Interpretation and Biblical Hebrew at Perkins School of Theology, sat down with Rev. Phil Dieke to discuss the Holy Spirit. Jack gives a break down on the Hebrew term ruach translated as "wind," "breath," "spirit," and "Spirit." Jack is a wealth of information, wisdom, and his energy is infection.

Preparing fish for breakfast... are you a fan or do you, like Rev. Mitchell Boone, think Jesus should have had a different breakfast menu?

Mitchell preached on more than just breakfast. The narrative surrounding the risen Christ serving fish and bread to the disciples is rich and filled with much for us to ponder. Specifically, Mitchell focused on this idea of scarcity and abundance Christ offers in this narrative.

Brenda Maddox joins Rev. Phil Dieke for this week's Sunday Sit Down. Brenda shares some of the religious experiences she has had throughout the course of her life. She was extremely gracious to share such vulnerable experiences, and to do so in such a public space. 

This series has been great for us to intentionally focus on the ways we encounter the risen Christ. Brenda's willingness to share paves the way for others to do the same.

This week he used the second half of John 20 to address fear, doubt (and doubting Thomas), and how far Christ will travel to get to us. Rev. Mitchell Boone kicked off our new worship series, Encountering the Risen Christ, with laughter. At the beginning of Mitchell's sermon he jokes about an "oops" during the offertory. You'll have to listen to hear about it, as well as his sermon to kick off the series. 

This series takes the momentum of Easter Sunday and continues it into Eastertide - a time we continue to celebrate the risen Christ. In this series we will specifically look at the last two chapters of John and the encounters the disciples have with the risen Christ and what those encounters reveal and mean to us today.

Mitchell speaks about Inaugurated Eschatology - the already/not yet reality of God's kingdom/reign. He also emphasizes the role of the women, and specifically Mary, in these encounters.
