This week, we’re joined by the witty funnyman you’ll know from the likes of 'The Apprentice: You’re Fired' and 'Bake Off: An Extra Slice' – it’s the incredibly charming Tom Allen.
Tom joins Kate to take a delightful stroll down memory lane and reminisce about his Bromley roots. Growing up as a slightly awkward, top-hat-wearing teenager with a penchant for fine silverware and dinner parties, Tom’s journey through school wasn’t exactly focused on finding his tribe but rather on beating to the sound of his own drum. Describing himself as a 40-year-old man trapped inside a teenage body as he navigated those early years, we fast forward to his life today at that age he always felt he was meant to be and explore the full journey it took to get there.

This week’s guest is a familiar face from the Coronation Street cobbles, having spent over 7 years there - the delightful Catherine Tyldesley!
Catherine joins Kate ahead of her upcoming venture into musical theatre, starring in the musical version of Bonnie and Clyde. Despite it being her debut, she tells us all about how musical theatre was actually her first love. She also chats about her chance romance with her now-husband (a tale of being each other’s opposite types on paper but a perfect match in reality) and her newfound love for dance. A surprising revelation for someone who had spent a lifetime avoiding even the lightest two-step! But with the magic of Strictly Come Dancing and the brilliance of her dance partner Johannes, she’s found a spring in her step and a sway in her walk.

Seeing as we’re right in the thick of one of the toughest months of the year, we thought that anyone taking up Dry January might like some inspiration to keep them on track for the rest of the month! So on today’s episode, we revisited some of our best conversations about changing your relationship to alcohol.
First up, we talked to the lovely Lisa Riley - television presenter, actor and Emmerdale’s beloved Mandy Dingle - about the hardcore partying that went on behind the scenes of the Strictly Tour and how this, alongside navigating her own grief, led her to give up alcohol altogether seven years ago. We also hear from ultimate funny man Brian Conley - a comic with 40 years of experience behind him who’s spent half of those sober! Plus, the brilliant journalist and broadcaster Adrian Chiles discusses his book 'The Good Drinker', and the lessons he’s learnt through understanding the importance of moderation and drinking less - rather than going entirely sober.

Today’s guest has presented Channel 4 News for the last 25 years and whose affable charm was on full display during his impressive eight-week stint on Strictly late last year. It’s the wonderful Krishnan Guru-Murthy!
Krishnan joined Kate ahead of the Strictly live tour to chat about his incredible journey to the Channel 4 newsroom, how he’s passed on values learned from his parents down to his own children, and just how transformative his Strictly experience was.

Time to get our skates on and pirouette down into the WWQT cellar, our weekly mini series where we bring up some of our old favourites from the back catalogue for a deserved second listen.
With Dancing on Ice launching any day now, we thought it was a perfect time to revisit our conversation with two of the biggest names in ice skating history: Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. We spoke to them at the start of the Pandemic about the realities of our new normal, as well as a storied career that saw them cement themselves as two of the most significant sports stars this country has ever produced.

It's no exaggeration to say that today's guest help redefine how an entire generation of women saw themselves, their aspirations and their sexuality. It's the author of Sex and the City and tons of other bestselling books, Candace Bushnell!
Candace dials in from New York City ahead of her one-woman show's UK debut to discuss how, through her writing, she came to redefine how women saw themselves. Of course, there's also plenty of time for a chat about Sex and the City and the crossover between her life and the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Mr. Big et al.

We've got a bonus midweek episode today with a brand new guest, as we welcome the woman who captured the feeling of the pandemic better than anyone and has gone on to become the UK's best-selling poet of the last two years.
After losing her family business, Donna Ashworth turned to what had always been a hobby and began sharing her poetry online. It captured the feelings of worry and isolation so many were feeling with the likes of Pink, James Corden and Khloé Kardashian sharing her words. She joins Kate to talk about how her online followers encouraged her to self-publish her work and how she went on to become a Sunday Times bestseller. They also talk about feelings of loss, challenges surrounding mental health and where we can all look for little moments of inspiration.

We've made it! The end of another year. And what a year it's been, as we've enjoyed the company of some truly special guests over the last year. So we thought for this bonus episode of Something from the Cellar, we'd pull together some of our favourite moments from the last year.
There's plenty of laughs to be had, as comedian and podcaster Fay Ripley talks about how she ended up buying Gwyneth Paltrow's vagina-scented candle (yep!), while Craig Doyle reveals his very special talent to do with Ducks. There's also room for some heartfelt moments, as comedian and TV host Adam Hills works out what he'd do with his daughter if he were to have one last hour on Earth.
You can listen back to these episodes in full right here: Fay Ripley, Craig Doyle and Adam Hills.
