  • WL//WH Premiere: VALANAÏS X BlindÇhild "Appeal" [Silent Ground]
WL//WH Premiere: VALANAÏS X BlindÇhild "Appeal" taken from VALANAÏS' upcoming digital EP "Réminiscence," scheduled for release on November 29, 2024, via Silent Ground's Bandcamp.
    -----------------------------------------------------------
The dramatic visceral narrative of VALANAÏS meets with the EBM/Industrial-charged dark electronic project, influenced by Darkwave and Post-Punk, from Karim Bornaz (aka Nasty Habits), aka BlindÇhild.
"Appeal” is an autobiographical track that recounts the harrowing story of my (VALANAÏS’) grandparents during the bombings of Berlin in 1945 wherein, following an evacuation to the countryside, Grandmother gave birth to Father whilst Grandfather was a prisoner of war. Analogies are drawn between the smoke and the atmosphere of Berlin’s destruction and the lights in the misty night of the Berlin countryside.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
Paris-based DIY label Silent Ground keeps on delving into equally intoxicating and disturbing obscure electronic soundscapes, strained by Darkwave, EBM, Industrial, and Post-punk inflections, through the new collaborative 5-track digital EP "Réminiscence," by French polymath artist, spoken word vocalist and lyricist Valérie Hendrich aka VALANAÏS.

  • WL//WH Premiere: JËAN FIXX - "Virtual Body Language" [DISCTRL]
WL//WH Premiere: JËAN FIXX - "Virtual Body Language" [DISCTRL]
WL//WH is pleased to premiere the entrancing, metaphysical and atmospheric techno ride of "Virtual Body Language" taken from the 4-track EP, "CIRCA" created by A Coruña, Galicia based, Spanish musician and producer Jëan Fixx (@jean-fixx) via fellow Galician imprint DISCTRL (@disctrl)
“Virtual Body Language” delves into the logic of virtual representation and its ability to evoke forms that lead us to other worlds and other bodies.
    -----------------------------------------------------------
The Latin-derived preposition CIRCA is often used in scientific bibliography, historical documents, or genealogies to pinpoint an event’s timeframe, estimating when it may have occurred in human history.
With this title, Jëan Fixx’s new work aims to transport us to an indeterminate time where the relationship between humans and technology is so close that the virtual and real worlds can no longer be distinguished.
Captured by the magnetic abstraction of techno and its relentless beat, the 25 minutes of this EP take us to a mental universe, with deep bass lines structured within reverberating industrial at-
mospheres, interspersed with melodic passages that hint at a more organic passion, born from an immense and unrestrained desire for expression and understanding.
Only the power of words draws our attention to specific issues, as in “Humans,” which challenges us to question the limits of humanity and its ability for self-management. In “The Truth,” the lyrics introduce the mystery of something that is being hidden from the public by those in power, while “Virtual Body Language” delves into the logic of virtual representation and its ability to evoke forms that lead us to other worlds and other bodies.
It is “CIRCA,” which evokes through its title something seeking specificity, that remains without lyrics, leaving us with its repeated pauses—spaces for the listener to fill with content as they wish.
CIRCA is a four-part journey through a universe yet to be defined, advancing relentlessly toward the unknown.

  • WL//WH Premiere: BELIAL PELEGRIM "Requiem for the Forgotten Spectre" [Bricolage]
WL//WH is pleased to premiere “Requiem for the Forgotten Spectre”, the fourth song from Belial Pelegrim's conceptual fifteen-track opus.
Refined sculptor of equally mysterious and thought-provoking sound narratives combined with intricately textured and multifaceted rich arrangements, wobbling through lucid visions and pensive moods.
    ____________________________________________________________________
Almost 5 years to the day since his Bricolage debut, "Imitation of Faith", the prolific Belial Pelegrim returns with his latest musical escapade, "The Astronaut's Last Polaroid", and it's a very special one indeed.
This album tells the story of Jack Hawthorne. A 68 year old former NASA astronaut that is now grappling with the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Once celebrated for his groundbreaking lunar missions, Jack now finds himself lost in the uncharted territory of his fading mind.
Alzheimer's disease is a subject that is no doubt close to the hearts of a lot of people and it's a subject that Belial has carefully mapped out with the utmost respect.
The music itself is 15 tracks of lucid and harmonic experimental soundscapes that set a transient stage for what feels like a dark yet beautiful dream. There's a tinge of anxiety laced throughout as you would expect with such a theme but it never becomes foreboding. It's more like giant swirls of memories and relics of the past that drift in and out of view.
Belial expertly maps out the journey through hypnagogic tones that resonate with the heart and mind. Fleeting glimpses of rhythmic patterns, flashes of brooding strings and sprinkles of melodic dust. Taking us on a trip through not only Jack's consciousness but also our own. The depth and emotion that burrows its way into each track is of grandiose proportions. At times it feels like we're witnessing a one-man orchestra as we traverse through various realms of classical, glitch. ambient and electronica. A reverie of sonic tapestry.
"The Astronaut's Last Polaroid" serves as a woozy yet visceral reminder that time is not always on our side when it comes to memory but also that the mind is a beautiful place regardless.

WL//WH Premiere: OXYMOSOON - "Pray For What" [EYEAR RECORDS]
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
With the ideal of transcending the boundaries between auditory sensations and visual marvels, Seoul, South Korea-based new label EYEAR combines the essence of 'Eye' and 'Ear', specializing in a fusion of electrifying genres such as Electro, Acid, Trance, EBM, and Techno, to create immersive experiences beyond mere music.
Collaboration is at the heart of EYEAR, where we thrive on partnerships with visionary artists to break new ground in electronic music, carve out innovative paths, spark creativity, and leave a lasting impact on the electronic music scene.
South Korean electronic DJ, Producer and Eyear Records co-founder with XXOK, Fandisk, and Emyung, oxymosoon keeps his steady journey to discover himself through music with the upcoming release of his forthcoming debut album "Narcissism," due, in Vinyl 12" and Digital formats, on November 22 2024.
Interpreting the genres and their inputs of IDM, Breakbeat, Downtempo, Techno and Experimental, the album seeks to explore self-consciousness from the observer's point of view and defines its theme by exotic sound elements. The dark and suspicious atmosphere and uncomfortable glitch sound that scratches the eardrums lead to the result of one’s addiction and over-consciousness, which is composed of each significant synth sound and rhythmic instruments of each track.

WL//WH is pleased to premiere the third track "Ahrat" taken from Pedrolino (@pedrolino-vittorio-neri) upcoming digital EP "The Wheel", via Buenos Aires' DIY label Of Dolls and Murder (@ofdollsandmurder)
An edgy, obsessive and slamming bone-bending Tribal Techno workout, to overwhelm with intense aggressive energy, compelling a disorienting dance-floor friction.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    “... Turns
It’s never enough, actually. Each reaching grasp begets the next, and nothing's caught. And how
does smoke feel, hot? I can only hold on to it as long as I can before I have to exhale it. There’s only the taste left in my mouth. I still want more.”
Chicago-based experimental multidisciplinary artist Pedrolino has been producing music and organizing events for the past 10 years, releasing music over the last five years under names like Pedrolino, Baka, and performing as DJ Chainsawman and Holey Head. They have released music on labels such as Soil, Shi Shi, Forkha, OSM Tapes, and Northern Industrial Movement. Pedrolino’s productions are brutal and uncompromising, favoring complexity while avoiding overly intellectual posturing. “The goal has always been to create art that we can live in—a work that addresses us as much as we address it, connecting on an undeniably human level”.

  • WL//WH Premiere: ACID YOUTH - "Stress Points" [MFZ Records]
WL//WH Premiere: ACID YOUTH - "Stress Points" [MFZ Records]
In a somehow groovy, hypnotic and unsettling way, the Italian producer's acid-laced "Stress Points" challenges and splices the tension between rough organic vibes and cold synthetic configurations.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost a decade after its first release, Bologna-based Italian electronic music producer Davide Nicosia, a.k.a. Acid Youth (@acid-youth), returns on MFZ Records (@mfzrecs) with the album "Darkness Is Not Easy".
This new work is the result of years of research and refinement in defining an aesthetic that merges the acid imagery with the song form and melody.
Alongside the usual suspects (808, 303, analog and digital synthesizers), new acoustic and electric elements (drums, guitar, bass) are introduced. The result of this mix is a personal reinterpretation of the sounds from the '90s alternative music scene.
The rhythmic precision of the synthetic elements guides melodic structures characterized by human imperfections. Fuzz guitars go with the acid lines of the 303, while drums mix up with the analog percussions of the 808.
The album’s tracks blend techno atmospheres, shoegaze moods, acid psychedelia and drone expansions.
"Darkness Is Not Easy" is a musical journey accessible to anyone who doesn’t particularly care about strict boundaries between musical genres; a path to be taken without preconceived notions or bias of any kind.

  • WL//WH Premiere: DETLEV HOLTZ - "Homo Demens" (off the "Dans le Nord" LP) [NOTTE BRIGANTE]
WL//WH is glad to premiere "Homo Demens" from the upcoming debut album "Dans le Nord" from Detlev Holtz (@detlev-holtz)
Inspired by the French philosopher Jean Vioulac, the lyrics see humans as degenerate or dysfunctional animals who consciously act, against their own naturalness.
An indwelling torturous, densely emotive, leftfield synth-laden meandering through shuffling and thudding drum programming, buzzing low ends throbbings, obsessive glassy synth stabs and shivering reedy accordion-like nostalgic melodies, surrounding urgent restless vocals, steadfastly pushing through a ceiling of submersion.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
At a time when experience is bought for want of being lived, Detlev Holtz (half of the very cool wave duo Uberspannung) conveys his determination not to erase the traces of the past.
Coal deposits, mining operations and other coal dust feed his work and transport us to the subsoils of Northern France.
Watch out for "coup de grisou" and remember to keep your head down in the galleries!
