Glasgow-based imprint Bricolage welcomes the enigmatic producer,  The New Human, to the label with his stunning album, "Proximity Mantra".

The New Human isn't afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve. Proudly incorporating the late 90's/early 2000's IDM methodology into his own techniques to create a curious blend of Ambient, Glitch and Twisted yet mellow Electronica.

The eight tracks on show here provide us with a myriad of ever-evolving and crunchy percussion. Beats that stretch, warp and turn. Each pattern waiting to uncoil and mangle into the next. Then there are the dark and deep basslines that provide the ideal backdrop for these shuffling and effervescent soundscapes. But it's not all bass and complex beats. There's a whole host of technicolour and expressive melodies in the quieter moments that allow 'The New Human' to showcase his knack for exploratory synth work. Glacial harmonics intertwine with classic IDM bleeps that succeed in carrying the tracks into evocative territory.

The album is rounded out with two remixes: Inverness-based producer, Beira, provides her own spiky and chaotic take on "Phoenix" before label boss, Fragile X, dissolves "Thought Patterns" into an ambient electronica journey to close out the release.

Of Dolls and Murder label presents “Masacre”, the new EP from Mexican artist Datura Inoxia, made of 5 Electronic Body Music original tracks and 3 Killer Remixes from Efe Ce Ele, Spinal and Invalid User.

Datura Inoxia “Toloache” was born as a dancefloor music project since 2022 performed by Christian Cassale, creating obscure atmospheres from Mexico City. Techno-EBM based in dark

rhythms reflecting distorted feelings as love and loneliness, recording vocals and lyrics influenced by post-punk.

“Masacre” is based on a true story: During the year 1968, before the Olympic Games, on October 2nd, a crowd of students raised their voices against the repression of the Mexican government. During the movement, the Mexican government used police, military and paramilitary forces, killing 400 students in the plaza de las tres culturas in Mexico City, this event is known as “the Tlatelolco massacre”.

WL//WH Premiere: BIRDS - "Devil S Dance" [Feed The Void]

Blending acid-strewn Electro with twisted Wave and vocal allure, as the title suggests, the track is a dark mysterious exploration of desire and temptation, imbued with feelings of anxiety and danger throughout, instigated by a dance-inducing foundation of obsessively resonant scattered snare beats along with the mechanical shakings of humming low ends, pierced by desolate, shivering icy synths and neurotic squelchy acid lines, through a gripping build-up layering of hot and cold, fast and slow, also heavy and thin frequencies, interpolated twice with calm bewitching female spoken words swathed in reverb, inviting others to join in the “Devil’s Dance” using magnetic persuasion.

When Rotterdam-based, UK-born DJ/producer Birds (real name Katie Wilkinson) began putting together the tracks for her debut album, she realised that there was an ongoing theme to the vocal lines; they all were related to either being at, leaving or returning to some form of ‘home’, most likely because she made the move from The UK to The Netherlands less than 6 months before and was still going through the traumatising visa process. This led her to think about the philosophical question of what exactly is home. The album explores these themes.

Genre wise, the album is a deep dive into Birds’ Bass, Breaks and Electro-inspired influences with the occasional signature fuzzy guitar hook reminiscent of her earlier dark-wave material peppered in.

In the beginning, there's the party, in the massive alchemy of a booming culture. A free and unbridled party, in a crossroads of sound, in unison. The rhythms, sometimes tribal, sometimes haunting, blend with a tormented melancholy. Closed in a box, open in a field, the aim is the same: to lose all its elements. Early electrifying glimpses, back in 2013, of the in-progress dance sound the duo will dub “Club Wave”, a heady mix of electro club, new wave melodies and dark, deviant and hypnotic disco grooves, shimmer in You Man’s debut EP "Restless" – and its lead track "Birdcage" – released through the now defunct Alpage Records, as well as launched the career of French duo Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, kickstarting a decade of stunning live shows played all around the globe and acclaimed releases and remixes on labels such as Tronik Youth’s NEIN, Boston Bun’s Circa’99 and Eskimo Recordings.

With its chugging 109 bpm beat and a melody that switches from throbbing minimalism to something tantalisingly close to a full-on Ibiza sunrise moment, the EP’s lead track "Birdcage" has never strayed too far from discerning DJs' record bags but across several new versions here we get to see it reinterpreted in thrilling new ways.

Parisian eclectic electronic producer and Mille Feuilles Label head Roman Delahaye, aka Molecule (@moleculesound), reworks “Restless” into an 8-minute mesmerizing burner, set on a hypnotic bouncy foundation of relentless thumping kicks and buzz saw pulses that rise into a heady swirling, droning vortex where rousing primal effects and dissociative voice clips take hold, evoking a sense of paranoia and restlessness before a steady stream of splattering hard-hitting snare beats seems to come to the forefront, leading the listener out of the chaotic trance into uncharted realms of slow consuming emotive anguish and inner turmoil.

One of the two uncanny cuts, "L'infidele", co-written with Dr Joseph Mbenga, through the use of urban environmental found sounds, somehow echoes the eerie atmosphere of sacred and profane that can be felt in the spirited area surrounding Turin's Porta Palazzo, between its sprawling effervescent multicultural market and the surrounding ancient devotional sites.

A long 13-minute hauntingly immersive sonic journey that converges on the unsettling presence of a doomsday preacher whose amplified foreboding sermons resonate on the backdrop of a mercurial array of off-kilter synth samples, ritual and ancestral shifting percussion patterns, manipulated feedback, metallic clanks, noisy drone textures, and mesmerizing exotic instrumental inflexions, to create a sentient claustrophobic vibe of discomfort and tension before expanding into a skewed and chaotic release.
