Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and other Democratic officials in the state were quick to seize on the shooting at Michigan State University to call for more gun control, despite the fact that the shootings took place in a gun-free zone and police say the man responsible was a convicted felon barred from lawfully possessing a firearm in the first place.
