Kate Shuster, Ph.D., presents a lecture, "Relevance and Rigor: Why Teaching about Diversity Is More Than an Add-On to Curriculum." Shuster is an independent education researcher and evaluator who has worked on multiple studies assessing curricular and co-curricular reforms. She is also the co-director of the Middle School Public Debate Program, the world's largest program for debating in the middle grades.

Lecia Brooks presents a lecture, "No Longer an Elective: Incorporating Diversity across the Curriculum and Co-curriculum." Brooks leads the Southern Poverty Law Center's outreach efforts on key initiatives and social-justice issues. She is also director of the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery, Ala.; the interpretive center is provides visitors with a deeper understanding of the Civil Rights Movement.

Trish Morita-Mullaney, Ph.D., presents a lecture, "Asian Americans Navigating the In-Between Spaces: Busting the Binaries," for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Morita-Mullaney, a 1989 Whitworth alumna, is an assistant professor of multilingual education at Purdue University. Her research focuses on the intersections between language learning, gender and race, which are informed by her racial and ethnic identity as a third generation Japanese/American.

Jamie Meyer, Graduate Intern for Music and Worship, presents "'What I have I give you' – God's Using Peter to Heal."

Cornelius Eady is an award-winning writer who has published eight collections of poetry. His poems often center on jazz, family life, violence, and questions of race and class. He holds the Miller Chair in Poetry at the University of Missouri.
