  • 21. 9/11/2001 from an Inmates Perspective
September 11th, 2001 was a tragic day for the entire world, but especially for New Yorkers. On this episode I give the perspective on New York State Inmates. I talk about trauma and reference, "The Body Keeps The Score" a great book I'm reading. I talk about looking into empathy and compassion. To remember 9/11 is not just about where you were but where the unseen of society were and how they might have responded. Imagine, serving your time in prison and then after 9/11 being told you can't get out for another 6 months because of the state of emergency. How would you respond. For many people they don't need to imagine, they know. I also talk about imagination and the power of healing in Jesus. The best is yet to come because Jesus restores our imagination to dream. I hope you enjoy this episode if you have any questions @jpislavished, @whodareswinspodcast or [email protected]. Peace & Love

  • 18. Derek Dares... Wins: Conversations with Derek Minno-Bloom

I am very encouraged to share this recent episode of WDW with you. Derek Minno-Bloom is my best friend. He is the Co-Founder of the Asbury Park Transformative Justice Project. APTJP, is a truly holistic response to issues of racial discrimination, mass incarceration, ending homelessness, seeing to the needs of their friends with adequate mental health counseling. Derek and I have been friends since 2005. We have been on this journey together pretty much from the beginning. Much of my process of being politicized has much to do with our friendship and our radical solidarity with people. I ask you to listen with grace. I left this conversation challenged and inspired to go even deeper. I pray you are challenged too.

    17. A Tale of Two Upstate New York's

Schenectady, NY is where I was raised from 10-16 years old. In this episode, I share my introduction to race in America as a young white boy. Before Schenectady there was a town called, Montgomery, NY where I had my first girlfriend, my first expulsion, and my first introduction to racism. Then back to Schenectady, NY where I would be introduced to my biological father and interracial dating. I loved that about my dad. A tale of two Upstate New York's. • 14. Sunday Is Coming (Easter 2020)
In Luke 23:44-56 (The Passion Translation) we read about the death of Jesus and the burial in the tomb. We here about Good Friday, some know about Maundy Thursday and everyone knows about Easter. On this episode I wanted to share from my heart on the topic of "Silent Saturday" and that lead to the title of "Sunday is coming” because, many of us are in a silent Saturday season of life, (meaning our dreams, hopes, mobilization is seemingly dead) but we need to be encouraged that our Sunday is coming (resurrection). I had a lot of fun recording this message. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for listening.

  • 13. John “Red" Parkinson
John "Red" Parkinson was the name of my grandfather. He was nicknamed "Red" during the Korean war in 1950. When "Red" was younger he had a giant head of red hair. He was a Scotsman from upstate NY. Today, two years ago my grandpa passed away. I wanted to use today and this "silent Saturday" to honor him and his memoriam. In 2018 I wrote a story about the final hours of his life. I thought it would be cool to share it with you via audibly here on the podcast. I know those final hours gave me so much courage. I learned to risk praying and believing for what I've never seen or do what I've never done. I pray that as you listen the episode you are encouraged and filled with courage.

Happy Ministry Monday today's message is on Hope in a pandemic. Who Dares...Wins is about hope and today I dare you to risk having hope in the midst of very real challenges. I believe that in this moment more than medicine and a vaccine we need the pharmacy of hope. A resource in God that never has lack, never lacks supply and always meets every demand. Hope is your pharmacy in this pandemic. Romans 8:18-39
