Jennifer and Bridgette talk about adjusting to Springtime’s changes and naturally flowing with these shifts rather than working against what nature’s changes bring.
The two friends talk about the bigger picture when making major adjustments for themselves and how they want to do so carefully and considerately with themselves. Bridgette shares that It takes time to adjust to changes and “it’s worth pausing” to give ourselves grace when seasonal changes occur. Bridgette confesses that she has been critical of herself at times when she sees herself making major movements toward new things and she is questioning why it isn’t easy on her. She’s asking herself, “What do I need right now?” which requires her to pause. Jennifer receives the message, “slowing down” after listening to Bridgette.
Jennifer is working with “being willing to see something all the way through” and “being willing to feel uncomfortable”. She elaborates on her journey of releasing herself from taking medications for her mental health. She is aiming to achieve her optimal mental health and clarity. She believes it is now right to gradually reduce her use of medications, which she has appreciated having as a resource. She describes how hard it is to do this for herself, yet she will not give up.
Jennifer reminds Bridgette of the question Bridgette asked her not long ago, “do you want to feel better, or do you want to become better?". Bridgette lovingly reminds Jennifer of what she is accomplishing. Bridgette reveals that she is forgetting about what Jennifer is dealing with by tapering off of synthetic medications because she doesn’t feel she is any different. Jennifer then wonders if she is holding back from telling the full breadth of how much she is struggling physiologically. Jennifer wants to see what is possible by being willing to do what she is doing right now and struggling through this hard time and she is committed to see herself through it.
Bridgette talks about how she has to be sensitive to what she can and can’t do at this time in her life. She reflects on how impermanent life’s moments and experiences are. She maintains her focus on her own well being and her new freedom of letting go of “old ways” she expected from herself. She no longer feels guilty or judges herself. Rather she’s finding herself say that she has a “peaceful acceptance”.
The conversation ends by the two friends reminiscing on the little joys and happiness they find for themselves each day.
