Just like everyone and their mothers on social media, we present to you our 2021 Spotify wrapped, sharing different moments and memories associated with each song and artist. In this episode, we learn that Rhea likes but does not love music, Marilyn has 7 songs from the same album in her 10 most played songs, both Rhea and Marilyn love Beyoncé, and Rhea’s taste in music made Marilyn puke - quite literally.
What song or artists were featured on your 2021 Spotify wrapped? Do you have any musical guilty pleasures? Do you and your bestie have different music tastes? Let us know by writing to us on [email protected], or on our Instagram @whoruntheworldpod.
As we approach the end of the year, we would love it for you to find it in your hearts to donate to one of these causes in Lebanon, as the country is going through a crippling economic crisis.
Every little bit counts.
In this episode we talk about money - how to invest it, how to make smart decisions, how to achieve financial freedom and financial wellbeing. We are joined by Dr. Christiane Mueck who is the founder of INTO Financial, which helps people get an empowered understanding of modern personal finances and financial independence. Dr. Christiane demystifies investing and shares with us different tips and tricks on how to develop a better relationship with money. Talking about our finances often feels like a taboo. However, we believe having conversations about our money, sharing our knowledge and supporting each other through our investment journeys (whether it be investments, starting a business, real estate, purchasing crypto, etc) will help lead us towards financial freedom.
If you’d like to know more about how to achieve financial freedom, we recommend visiting and signing up to INTO Financial here.
We’d also love to hear from you! Write to us on [email protected], or follow us on Instagram @whoruntheworldpod.
In addition, if you have a few bucks to spare, we’d love it if you would consider donating to one of the Lebanese charities below. Lebanon is going through a crippling economic crisis, and people are struggling to get their basic necessities. Every little bit counts.
We are joined by Lighthouse Arabia founder and psychologist Dr. Saliha Afridi who breaks down everything we need to know about anxiety and mental health. Dr. Saliha tells us how we should treat our mental health like we treat our physical health, something to be cared for everyday. We also discuss anxiety and how our bodies go into fight, flight or freeze mode. Finally, we explore how we can show up for loved ones going through a tough time with their mental health. She introduced us to Mental health first aid which is a training that helps you become a first responder for someone going through mental health issues.
If you are currently struggling with your mental health we do encourage you to reach out for help. If you are in the UAE you can find out more about Lighthouse Arabia here, and you can sign up for their free support groups here as well as their course on Mental Health First aid here. Finally, you can follow Dr Saliha on Instagram: @drsalihaafridi.
Also, we’d love to hear from you! Would you like to share how you tend to your mental health? Write to us on [email protected], or follow us on Instagram @whoruntheworldpod.
On a final note, we’ve been overwhelmed by the latest world events, particularly what’s been happening in our home country Lebanon. We do hope you can take some time out in your day to donate to these worthy causes:
After 5 months apart, last week we were back together in the same place and took advantage to record a special episode in San Sebastian Spain. Since we were on vacation, we figured why not bring you an episode about how we ran the time while in the Basque country. We spoke about the different games we played during our road trips, how we kept the conversation going and we dove deep into how to manage friend dynamics on a group trip. At the end of the podcast we are joined by the third member of the trip Melhim Abou Alwan who shared his own highlights from our vacation.
We are so incredibly grateful to be able to go on vacation and have moments with friends. People in Lebanon are not even in a position to think about going on vacation. We ask that you consider donating to one of this charities helping our home country Lebanon as it navigates through a crippling crisis:
If you listen to this podcast you must know that we both love to converse, ask questions, travel down hypothetical routes, and learn things about each other and other people. Actually, did you know that according to a study by Marilyn and her team at Cosmic Centaurs: the more team members share mutual knowledge the more they are happy and perform better at work. So team centaurs created a deck of prompt cards called Cosmic Conversations, helping team members (or even just a group of friends) learn more about each other through meaningful questions. So on this episode, Marilyn and Rhea decide to take these conversation starters for a test run. We talked about who we think would play the other in a movie, what feedback we had for each other as podcast partners, we had a debate about whether we’d seek revenge on people who have hurt us in the past, and so much more.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the release of Cosmic Conversations on the Cosmic Centaurs website here.
Also what are some of your conversation starters? Tell us about them by writing to us on [email protected] or on our Instagram page: @whorutnehwroldpod
We recently won the Comedy Gold Award at the International Women’s Podcast Awards, and we spent the first few minutes of this podcast sharing with you our reactions. In this episode, we talk about boundaries: how to establish them, how to respect them for ourselves and for others, and why they are so important in the creation and maintaining of healthy relationships.Rhea shares that one of her main obstacles in her dating/romantic life is setting boundaries, always being available to and making things easier for her date. Marilyn on the other hand talks about how her desire to be considered as a good person has made it difficult for her to establish boundaries. Through our stories we pinpoint how we can create boundaries all while being true to ourselves. Finally, we take a look at our own friendship and whether we respect each other's boundaries.
We’d love to hear from you! How do you view boundaries? Is it easy for you to establish them or to respect them in others? Write to us on [email protected] and follow us on Instagram on @whoruntheworldpod. Also let us know what other topics you’d like us to discuss.

We recently binge watched Netflix’s AlRawabi School for Girls and it quickly became one of our favorite television shows. We loved the series so much that TV binger Marilyn savoured it over a few days, and TV savourer Rhea binged it in just one night. We decided to take our conversation to the podcast and breakdown our thoughts and reactions to the series. We discussed how authentic the show felt in how it portrayed the teenage Arab girl experience, how beautifully constructed and paced the series is and who is our favorite character. Ultimately, AlRawabi School for Girls is a series written and directed by Arab women who so aptly and honestly illustrate the pressures carried on the shoulders of Arab women from a young age.

54% of people in the Arab world are at risk for developing an eating disorder. To help us make sense of this astounding statistic, we invited Dr. Melissa Rizk on the podcast. Dr. Melissa is a nutritionist and holistic health coach with a PhD in Cognitive Neurosciences specialised in eating disorders. Dr. Melissa explains to us what exactly is an eating disorder, what can cause them and how people can start developing healthy relationships to food and to their bodies. Through the sharing of personal stories, all three of us have an honest and emotional conversation about eating disorder with Rhea sharing her own personal story with binge eating.
If you want to learn more about this topic make sure to follow Dr. Melissa on her instagram @drmelissarizk, or if you are seeking help with an eating disorder check out Dr Melissa’s website: drmelissarizk.com.

Rhea moved to London almost three months ago now. Living in this new city has made Rhea feel major bouts of loneliness, which often result in lots of tears. However, Rhea is not alone in her loneliness (see what we did there?). It turns out 1 in 3 millennials experience loneliness. We call that an epidemic, especially that loneliness can lead to shorter lifespans down the line. In this episode, Rhea shares with Marilyn what it's felt like the last few months, and Marilyn talks about her own past feelings of loneliness. In the last half of the episode, the the two breakdown the different ways we can all show up for each other to feel a little less alone.
We’d love to hear from you. Have you ever felt lonely? Would you like to share your story with us? Write to us on [email protected].

We continuously spend time having to make decisions. It’s part of being an adult. In this episode of Who Run the Time, we talk you through our processes of making decisions, with Marilyn laying out the different frameworks she uses to sift through different options around her, and make informed decisions. Rhea on the other hand talks about how she consults her friends (or as she likes to call them personal board of advisors) in order to make important decisions in her life.
We’d like to make a special shout out to Farnam Street, who creates a whole bunch of thoughtful content around the art of decision making. Farnam Street has been an incredible source to us to help shape our decision making habits.
We’d love to hear from you and how you make decisions. Write to us on [email protected].
