Today on Perry and Shawna Mornings, Shawna shares that even though she’s followed Jesus for thirty-seven years, she still struggles with finding her identity in Jesus. And the reality is that finding our identity in Jesus’ performance rather than our own, is a life-long process. It’s a step by step, one day after another journey of soaking in the truth and deciding to believe what God says about us.
Then, it’s a conversation about how those first century uneducated fisherman and marginalized women changed the world. They didn’t do it by electing the right emperor or getting the right people onto the supreme court, they did it by bearing fruit, by becoming like Jesus. The only way to change the world is by bearing fruit. Which begs the question: “How do we bear fruit??” Bearing fruit has very much to do with realizing how desperately we need Jesus! We get an assist here from bible teacher Rod VanSolkema.
Finally, someone Shawna loves struggles with anxiety. Her friend feels she is small, fragile, that she will fail. But Shawna sees in her friend a confident, capable woman whose presence changes the atmosphere. It’s easy for Shawna to see so clearly who her friend is. It’s harder for Shawna to see herself as clearly. It’s a conversation about the step-by-step journey to see ourselves the way God sees us!
