Man, God really does orchestrate all things for His glory. He gave me these topics weeks ago and to have this one land the week following the assassination of Charlie Kirk is astounding. Our words matter. How we speak matters.

This episode leans on James 3 "Taming the Tongue" as a scriptural basis for being intentional with our words, how we communicate, and the power of life and death in the tongue.

Whether you allow your tongue free rein when triggered by your kids or spouse, or you can't seem to hold back from sharing your opinion on social media, this episode is for you. This episode is for all of us.

Part 2 of a 4-part series on simplifying our lives. This episode is all about simplifying our schedules.

I share some life updates up front, including a new salad my son made up and devoured (let me know if you'd try it after you hear the ingredients!).

The first step in the art of simplifying is always prayer. Pray and seek the Lord. When it comes to your schedule, be honest with yourself as you assess your weekly rhythm, "Do I have an eternal mindset when I am making decisions about how I spend my time?"

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” – Colossians 3:2

This is PART 1 of a 4-part series, The Art of Simplifying. This first episode gets into the one most of us are constantly battling: stuff.

I am in the struggle with you. This is the episode I NEED so I know it will benefit you.

While I do touch on some practical steps to take in simplifying your stuff, I get into the root of WHY we have so much stuff. I draw attention to Jesus' words to "store up for ourselves treasures in Heaven" (Matt 6:20) and to "be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions." (Luke 12:15)

Before we can combat the clutter, we need to be honest with ourselves on why we have so much stuff. For some of us, it's scarcity mentality. For others, it's motivated by pride. But no matter the reason, if our stuff is causing us stress, an imbalanced amount of time spent cleaning, maintaining, etc. then it could be keeping us from the call God has on our lives.

We have to come before him DAILY to be reminded of who He is and in light of that, who WE are. When we practice dwelling in Him, we free up our capacity to be available to our spouse, our children, and our community.

My 7.5-year-old daughter, Lucy, has been asking to be on the podcast and it finally happened! When I asked her what she wanted to talk about, she said, "What moms and daughters can do together."

This is a big one - all about OBEDIENCE. We're taking a look at Jonah's disobedience when God called him to Ninevah. He hopped on a ship to sail as far away as possible, then he hid in the bottom of the ship during the storm that he caused by his disobedience!

The good news is that God is a God of redemption and if He can redeem Jonah's disobedience for His glory, He can certainly redeem ours.

In contrast, we read in Genesis 6:22 that, "Noah did everything as God commanded him." May we be that obedient!
