Discover how David's morning rhythm of passionate prayer can transform the way you start each day. Learn about the Hebrew word "hagah" and how God hears even our wordless groanings, creating space for authentic encounters with Jesus from the moment you wake up.
Key Takeaways"Words are not the essence but the garments of prayer." - Charles Spurgeon
"In the morning. This is the fittest time for intercourse with God. An hour in the morning is worth two in the evening. While the dew is on the grass, let grace drop upon the soul. Let us give to God the mornings of our days and the morning of our lives. Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night. Devotion should be both the morning star and the evening star." - Charles Spurgeon
This Week's ChallengeTry the morning encounter practice for seven days: Before getting out of bed, imagine Jesus inviting you to begin the day with Him. Lay your heart before God and wait in expectation for how He will answer throughout your day.

"When life feels like you're running for your life, where do you turn?"
In this episode of Wholistic Hearts, Kristin Chadwick takes us deep into Psalm 3 to discover how to trust God in the midst of crisis. Written by King David while literally fleeing for his life from his own son Absalom's rebellion, this psalm offers us a timeless three-step pattern for navigating overwhelming circumstances with faith instead of fear.
Join Kristin as she unpacks the fascinating neuroscience behind speaking truth out loud, explores how worship becomes a spiritual weapon, and shares practical ways to find God's peace even when life feels chaotic. Whether you're facing anxiety, depression, grief, betrayal, or any overwhelming situation, this episode will equip you with biblical tools for breakthrough and remind you that God's heart is to protect and surround you with His glory.
Key Scripture ReferencesDavid didn't ignore his fear - he acknowledged it honestly before God. He faced overwhelming enemies, betrayal, and isolation. Today we might face anxiety, depression, grief, or overwhelming circumstances, but like David, we can bring our honest struggles to Jesus without pretense.
2. Remember Who God Is (Capital "T" Truth)David spoke what he knew to be true about God - that Yahweh had become his shield and protector. He reminded himself of kingdom truth even in crisis.
3. Declare Truth Out Loud
David used his voice to speak truth over his circumstances. The power of verbal declaration goes far beyond positive thinking - it literally rewires our brains for trust instead of fear through neuroplasticity.
The Neuroscience of Speaking TruthDiscover how your brain changes when you speak truth aloud:
This is why David could "lie down and sleep like a baby" even while being hunted - his declarations literally calmed his nervous system!
Worship as a WeaponKristin explores why this is the first psalm labeled "mizmor" (psalm for instrumental accompaniment) and shares powerful biblical examples:

Encountering the Book of Psalms
Welcome back to Wholistic Hearts! This week we're diving into Psalm 2 in our "Encountering the Book of Psalms" series, and oh my goodness - there's so much treasure here!
While Psalm 1 was about our personal choice to follow Jesus, Psalm 2 zooms out to show us the big picture: Jesus is the victorious King of Kings! This psalm prophetically declares Jesus as God's beloved Son - the same words spoken at His baptism.
In this episode, we'll explore:
• How Psalms 1 and 2 beautifully bookend each other
• What "begotten" means and why it changes everything
• How God actually laughs at enemies who come against His beloved (that's you!)
• The invitation to "kiss the Son" in surrender and trust
Whether you're facing battles or just need hope, this psalm reminds us we're part of the greatest love story ever told - and victory is already ours!
Come let Holy Spirit guide your heart into deeper encounter with Jesus, our tender yet dangerous King.
Don't miss the companion encounter episode where we'll meditate on Psalm 2 together!

Psalm 1 Encounter
Grab a journal, a comfy spot, and allow yourself to meditate on Psalm 1.
Psalms 1:1-3 TPT What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways! His passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,” meditating day and night on the true revelation of light. He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.”
Questions for Jesus:
What do you want me to notice about this Tree of Life?
What does abiding in You Jesus, look like today?

Encountering the Book of Psalms
In Dietrich Bonhoeffer's book about the book of Psalms, He wrote “David prayed the psalms. Jesus prayed the psalms after David. We pray the psalms after Jesus. And with Jesus and through Jesus….How does the psalms sound through the lips of Jesus?”
Let's read through first Psalm together.
What stands out to you?
Meditate is "hagah" which means to imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, sore, speak, study.
Journal Prompts:
What do I focus on during the day and night?
What do I choose to delight in?
What fruit is coming from my meditations?
