Hints and Tips for the Kitchen:
Temperature Control: (Keeping The Cold Food Cold)
Use An Ice Chests:
* If you're going camping, solid frozen foods should keep frozen for 2 to 3 days and very cold for at least one more day if they're packed snugly in the ice chest. They should keep longer if packed with no air spaced between foods.
Temperature Control: (Keeping The Cold Food Cold)
Use An Icy Bowl:
* Fill a large bowl with crushed ice and embed a bowl of potato salad or whatever you need to chill in the ice up to its rim. Add a little kosher or ice cream salt to the ice to make it colder.
* Use an ice bowl, Filling ½ full of water.
place an empty serving bowl you will be using in the center of the ½ filled bowl of water, weighing the empty bowl down, so it sits sunk below the water line. Place in Freezer and allow the water to freeze with the bowl inside the water.
Once the water is frozen, remove the frozen bowl with the empty bowl in the center from the freezer and use the empty bowl to house salads or dips.
