In Episode 12 I’m joined by my friend Ron Werth, a fellow stand up comic, theater aficionado, and someone who was recently diagnosed with Autism as an adult. We talk about the science behind autism, growing old and thinking about why you did certain things as a kid and realizing that there was nothing wrong with you to begin with, the percentage of stand up comedians with autism, masking and what it means in the world of autism, preconceived notions and naive assumptions about people with autism, having a brain that’s constantly on a loop, giving your body what it really needs, and ultimately trying to fit in with the world while at the same time not caring to fit in at all. We had a bit of technical difficulties, which you’ll notice in one small spot, because the internet where I live is very inconsistent.
If you’re interested in following Ron’s journey, you can do so on TikTok and Instagram at This Is Rons Life (all one word).
