As clinicians, we see far too many people who arrive exhausted—having tried every technique, strategy, and mindset shift yet still feeling trapped in fear. In this episode, we start where real healing begins: understanding anxiety at its root.
Are we destined to live with anxiety forever? Does it truly “never go away”? The answer may surprise you. Relief is possible—but only when we treat anxiety in the right way. Cognitive tools don’t work for somatic responses, and somatic approaches won’t resolve cognitive patterns. Effective treatment requires knowing what you’re dealing with and using the right tools for the job.

Stacy and Heather chat with Renee Haber, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in treating PANS (Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections). PANS/PANDAS is a neuroimmune condition where infections in the body can trigger sudden, severe psychiatric symptoms—often misdiagnosed as anxiety, depression, OCD, and other mental health disorders.

Renee explains how she works therapeutically with children and families while guiding them to the right physicians for accurate screening and treatment, what parents, educators, and clinicians need to look for, and why early recognition is essential for positive outcomes.
