The creation of angels was not merely for heavenly praise in abstraction. They also had an eventual role in relation to mankind. Scripture repeatedly presents angels as servants of God’s will in the affairs of men. Hebrews 1:14 says, “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” That one verse alone is crucial, because it shows that angels were not only made to adore God, but also to serve in the outworking of His redemptive purposes among human beings.
